Wisdom for practice

Wisdom is for practice, not for continuous speaking. If we keep on speaking about the Masters, the Rays, and the Hierarchies, we are only missing our duties for the present.

Wisdom is applied knowledge

Knowledge, when applied becomes wisdom. We gain a lot of knowledge, but it has to be applied in daily life, then it transforms itself into wisdom. Through wisdom we will experience the existence.

Wisdom spreads itself

We need not be anxious to spread the wisdom without working it with ourselves. It is a wrong understanding if one thinks that he can spread wisdom. Wisdom knows how to spread itself. It only needs channels.

Working with Colours: Red

The Colour of the Will

red

Our entire solar system moves around the sun as the centre. Without the sun there would be no life nor consciousness. He is the visible form of the Lord. At the time of dawn the Lord appears in the form of a ball of red light. When the sun appears on the horizon, we see this as his birth. For human perception the sun is the first object of manifestation.

Just as the creation comes out as a vibration from the darkness of the background, the morning sky comes out from the darkness of the night as the pure lustre which appears to us like a deep luminous blue. Then, colour come one after the other. The spectrum becomes visible when the demarcation line manifests from out of the darkness of the night as the red colour.

The colours of the sunrise and sunset are symbols of the emerging and merging of the individual consciousness. Darkness is a state with no colour. What we call darkness is the totality of the real light according to the wisdom teachings. The white light and its spectrum are only the limitations or the range of visibility to the human eye.

Red is the first colour that comes out of the background of darkness. The red is divided into blue and golden yellow. Thus, we pass from one colour to three colours. These are the colours of the first, second and third ray. Red relates to the Will, blue to Love and Knowledge, and golden yellow to Intelligence and Activity. The three reflect and thus become seven colours. Other colours arise from mixtures.

The pure consciousness is divided into the three aspects of consciousness: Will, Knowledge and Activity. The three colours red, blue and golden yellow represent the related three qualities - dynamism, poise and inertia, or Rajas, Sattva and Tamas. The three qualities and colours are intertwined with the corresponding sounds and numbers. Through their interaction, the creation manifests with all its planes of existence.

The will-to-do is connected to the colour red which represents the force aspect of creation. This power emanating from the existence creates, develops and destroys. Power and red belong together. Therefore, red carries dynamic activity in itself. In human history red was often used to stimulate the will and power.

Rudra

The Eastern wisdom describes that Rudra, the Lord of the vibration, is the first and foremost of the Vedic Devas. He enables the light beyond darkness to manifest as the light visible and tangible. When at the emergence of creation the creator Brahma, the Third Logos, got angry because the Kumaras did not obey him, he tried to contain his anger. However, the fire of anger opened a centre at the eyebrows, and Rudra, the First Logos, came out. When he emerged, he was red and blue together. His quality was blue and the force around him was red. The force of red made way for the creation, and the blessings of blue permeated the creation.

Pure red, the first colour in the manifestation, is the colour of Agni, the first of the 11 Rudras. The divine Will manifests through its property of annealing. By its red colour this Will leads the creation from seeming nothingness to apparent something. The Will is required to construct and also to destroy. Every beginning and every ending requires willpower. Thus, the red colour of Rudra is the beginning and also the ending of any periodical activity.

Rudra is invoked when Will is required to begin as well as to stop and also to dissolve blockages. By contemplating on the red colour the Will of Rudra can be invoked. Shiva is one of the Rudras. The symbol of the mantra OM NAMAH SHIVAYA is the five-pointed star in red colour or red with radiant white. The colour of mantra YO RUDRO is bright red. The symbol is a brilliant translucent double pyramid or lingam.

Red, Orange, Rose

Only advanced students can work with pure red when advised by their Master to do so. For all others, it is prohibited to meditate on this colour because it produces very strong vibrations on the vital plane which cannot be controlled by an ordinary human - one becomes cruel and bloodthirsty. The political emblems of revolutionary movements always carried blood red symbols.

The colour orange is a milder version of red. It should be used to awaken a fiery will, so that high goals can be achieved. Orange should then be contemplated in the brow centre regularly. Orange is the reflection of the red of the Cosmic Will on the mental plane. It embodies the transforming fire in the matter, at the mental, emotional and physical planes. It is the colour of concrete knowledge and it helps us to gain a clear mind and transform the personality. The associated sound is RAM, the seed sound of Cosmic Will. The colour should be contemplated on the forehead where the Divine Will exists in man. As a symbol, an orange five-pointed star can be selected.

Gentle, delicate persons like children are advised to contemplate upon the rose colour. Rose contains feminine energy; it belongs to the astral plane and has a soothing effect on the nervous system.

Colours are male and female because the light itself is male-female. In red there is more male energy and in golden yellow there is more feminine energy. From red to orange, there is a step-down of power and it changes into the female energy. By milk-white red is diluted to rose. Rose is experienced as pleasant. It stimulates the nerves, balances emotions and strengthens the will to live. If we desire something, our thoughts have rose colour.

The Vibration of Mars

Astrologically, red is the colour of Aries and blood is its substance. Mars governs the vibration of the blood-red colour; he rules over Aries in the lower circles and over the iron content in the blood. Mars is shining red with self-will and gives the power to fight. His burning red is associated with bloody wars and incessant fights. The chemical reactions of the blood cause strong sexual impulses. Mars rules the base centre and the spleen centre which are connected with reddish-brown colours. Red stones such as onyx are connected to the effects of Mars.

Opposite to Aries is Libra. Its colour is crimson-red; it vibrates upon the average people through the solar plexus. This colour is the result of the response of man to the cloudy admixture in him of emotion, desire and love.

Esoterically, Mars is a very beneficial, blissful force. His colour vibration gives the spirit of sacrifice and can enable the transformation of a son of man into a son of God, whose blood saves the world. Symbolically, the red colour of dawn is also called the blood of the Saviour. The Vedic seers declared that especially the sublime reddish rays of the morning sun eliminate impurities in the blood and uplift the awareness. Capricorn represents the dawn of the year. Therefore, they celebrated the winter solstice as the birth of the Saviour, whose rays protect and nourish the life.

Ardram

Through the red blood much magic is done, white magic and black magic, because the blood has a magnetic impact. At the subtle level, we can see the red colour that emerges before the dawn as love. This colour is called Ardram, the universal cohesive principle. It is the cohesive life force that keeps the body integrated. In the universe there is the invisible force of the Mother that keeps together the planets and the solar systems. It works in us as a sense of togetherness and also the deep feeling of belonging that we experience towards the divinity. The warmth of the divinity gives deep solace and real fulfilment to the soul. This warmness of the heart is then distributed by the soul.

Ardra is one of the 27 lunar constellations which is in the third decanate of Taurus and has a slightly reddish colour. Ardra means coral and corals carry the energy of Ardra. When the corals touch the body, they stimulate in us the life principle and the heart quality. Coral chains should not be worn on the clothing, but in such a fashion that they touch the heart region; then only they give the aura their protective impact. The coral red is a very protective colour, as intensely protective as the first ray. That's why the Indians worship the Divine Mother with coral Kumkum powder (saffron mixed with turmeric), and also the Divine Mother is decorated with coral red flowers. The seers saw the inherent divine quality of the blood and the sublime and divine quality of the heart lotus. Everything is intertwined through the thread of cordiality.

It is recommended to meditate on the form of the Divine Mother as a woman with beautiful shoulder-length hair. Her cheeks glow like rose-coloured mar-ble and the lips of her smiling mouth are red.
