“May Call is the precious day of the year” - says our Beloved Brother and Teacher Sri K. Parvathi Kumar. He radiates more and speaks silence on that day. It is the day of Initiation. Initiation into Aquarian Age was inaugurated by Master C.V.V. on 29th May 1910. Since then, 29th May inspired and initiated many into the Energy of Synthesis.

Our beloved Teacher Kumar conducted 8 May Calls in Europe. Each time he speaks upon the Energy of Synthesis, it is a profound flow of energy that stills the surroundings and fills the listeners. The May Call Group Living concludes fulfilling all.

The 8th May Call was conducted at Kircheim, Germany in serene surroundings where Brother Kumar subtly awakened the energy once again in the group. The group felt the depth of silence coming from the voice and therefore decided to bring into print this teaching. When informed of this proposal, Brother Kumar suggested “Let this teaching be dedicated to Bro. Hans Berger who is present in the group in a different form.”

We dedicate therefore this Booklet to Brother Hans Berger. We devote ourselves to the Energy of Synthesis, into which we are led by our teacher Parvathi Kumar.

W.T.T.-EUROPE

One is lifted up from the earth depending upon the use of the throat centre. It is recommended that we speak seeing the Master in the other. It is also recommended to see the Master, through the eyes and listen to the Master through the ear and speak to the Master through one's own throat. Yesterday we spoke of the magic of the elementals. Do not get lost in it. See the Master through the eyes, listen to the Master through the ears and speak to the Master through your own throat and the tongue. This should be the daily practice and much more so today.

I extend to all of you the heart felt greetings on the occasion of the May Call Initiation Day. May Call was introduced by Master C.V.V. to inaugurate a new area. The inauguration was done on 29th May, 1910. An energy influx has been steered for the benefit of the planet on that day. The energy started transforming the planet and the planetary beings since 1910. This is what we call the Aquarian Energy, which is referred to as the Energy of Synthesis in the books coming from the initiates like Blavatsky and Bailey. The first medium for the energy is the Master whom we call Master C.V.V. We are introduced to this Aquarian Energy and we are expected to get familiarised with it. Master C.V.V. himself said that he is also a medium to the energy and what is needed to be experienced is the energy. For this new energy that has visited the planet, he gave the name 'The Master'.

The Aquarius key note of meditation is to contemplate upon the nameless, formless and undefinable energy of the universe, of which we are a part. It functions in us and it functions in the universe. To recognise the function of that universal energy within oneself and also within all other beings, is the task set. It is recognition of the functioning of the one energy in all. Thereby realising that all are part of that energy and thereby feel or realise one's own link to the universe and also to realise that each one of us is a part or a representation of that truth. The contemplation is upon the universal energy and the sound C.V.V. is given as a medium to link up to the energy.

You need to operate a switch to have the lights. The purpose of switch is to get the light and we function in the light. We do not function with the switch any more. After the light is on, the switch recedes into background. That is what Master C.V.V. explained as “Link up to the Master as energy, do not so much link up to the Master as a picture.” That is why he rejected all ideas of worshipping his form. He rejected all ideas of recollecting his form. He said, “Recollect the energy throughout the day, for which purpose you can use me as a switch. Do not hang around the switch after the light is on. What is the purpose of hanging around a switch having put on the light? The process is to switch on and function with the light.”

The functioning with the light is the functioning with the energy, which is universal. That is why he says “You start the day switching on to the energy that comes to us as the morning prayer”. We think, if we do the prayer, that is the end of it. But according to the Master, that is the beginning of it. Throughout the day, we are required to recollect the presence of the energy in and around when we have done the prayer in the morning. So he strictly prohibited switching on again and again by way of recollecting the sound C.V.V. again and again. If once you switch on in the morning, the light is on, functioning in the aura of the light. Do not meddle with the switch any further till evening. Then the switch will be spoiled. Having put on the switch, if you keep on pressing it, it gets spoiled. That is what is the case with a normal switch. But in this case the master said, “if you switch on again and again, you will get shocked.”

What is important is to put on and thereafter observe the energy. Observe the energy, in which all beings are functioning and the energy in each of the beings. We are functioning in the energy and the energy is also functioning in us. This simultaneous understanding is important. As much as the energy is functioning through all the beings, so much it is also functioning in us. All that is happening, all that is living, all that is moving, is within this energy. As we live, we move, we are expected to observe this energy in the life. That holds the key for transformation. When we see something else other than the energy, functioning through another human unit, we fall into mortal activity. But if we keep the recollection of the presence of the energy, we are interacting with the energy through another human unit.

We know from the scriptures that in the world the truth is substituted or concealed. We see the truth in the form of a human being, and then we forget the truth and start believing that it is a human being. Then we further forget that it is a human being and start thinking that this is German, this is Spanish, this is Indian. And it gets further substituted, saying that is the lady, this is the male. It is further substituted, when we say that this is young, this is old, this is sick, this is healthy and this is my friend, this is not my friend. So much material (because thought is material) is heaped over the truth. All that is the material of one's own thought. Somewhere below the heap, there is a grain of truth, which is more often not seen. One works more with the husk of the substituted truth than with the grain of the original truth.

The straight way to overcome the substitute and reach the original is to once again institute the original in the place of the substituted thinking that we have. As we see each other, let us first see the soul. Soul as the centre, you can see the attributes around that particular form. Very often, we see the attributes of the form and do not see the grain of it or the soul of it. That is the reason why as we see each other, the colours change in our faces. The vibrations keep changing as we see face after the face. Some faces when we see, our face expands. And some other faces, when we see, our face contracts. We do not want to show it, but still it happens. It cannot be hidden. You can see how many ways the face changes on a daily basis as we meet people, as we meet situations or as we go places. That is the turbulent life, that one carries within himself, when the presence of the soul is not seen. The one who lives in the presence, lives without change of vibration. Nothing perturbs him, nothing disturbs him. On the contrary, he gives his constant unchangeable vibration to the other and settles them.

That is the first step to work out in the Aquarian way. Link up as you awake in the morning. As you have woken up, you have woken up as a localised consciousness from a pool of consciousness. From the oceanic consciousness, you have woken up as a wave. Remember that you are wave of the ocean. Remember that you have no independent existence or an existence separate from the ocean. Because the wave cannot exist without the ocean. So, as you wake up link up to it and function in the ocean as a wave. And as you continue to work in the day, understand that you are functioning in the ocean and there are other waves, too. Essentially you are ocean. This recollection is the single practice to overcome the personality angularities. When you start seeing the one consciousness or the Master in the other, you will not project your feelings and imaginations and opinions upon others. When others project upon you, they are absorbed in silence. This is the chief key to practice. If it is practiced for 10 to 12 years, you can be very sure of transformation and transcendence of one's own personality limitations.

The variety of concepts of wisdom that we learn are also realised as the petals emerging out of the one lotus of this existence of the energy. Since all exists within the energy system and since we are linked to the system, we see everything from the standpoint of synthesis. Consequently the wisdom reveals itself. Otherwise wisdom remains a concept and wisdom is never realised and lived. It is only there to be spoken of now and then as a personality exhibition. There is exhibition of personality wisdom, there is also living of the wisdom. Initiates are living wisdom. Those who make an intellectual understanding of wisdom are those who exhibit it from time to time. They carry the burden of recollecting it or remembering it to reproduce.

So there is the need to function straight away with the energy to get linked to the truth. Master C.V.V. specially recommended - “Recognize the situations that you don't like, persons whom you do not like, places that you don't like and then start seeing 'ME' in it. See 'ME' in the person whom you don't like, because I exist in that form also. If you can see like that, you don't have to worry about a scorpion, you don't have to worry about a cobra or a scorpion like person or a cobra like person. You can also see me in the mosquito.” That is how people have overcome the bite of mosquitoes in India. Instead of killing the mosquitoes they thought, they should find a way to overcome their bite. As much as you see the mosquito, the mosquito also sees you. As much as you see the soul, so much the soul is seen through the mosquito. You don't have to start with tigers and cobras, you should start with mosquitoes. That is a challenge enough for us.

Some of you may have studied the 'Autobiography of a Yogi' coming from Paramahamsa Yogananda. He comes from a rich family of Bengal and he was to live in his Master's ashram, which is a poor presentation. There are mosquitoes in the ashram. At home, Yogananda had all facilities like mosquito net and other things. Now he is in the Ashram, where every night there is a group living with mosquitoes. It was so horrible to him. I don't think, your experience in India is very far from this. Many of my friends who come to India wonder how still people live there. So Yogananda was also suffering from mosquitoes. When the Master was speaking to them about. wisdom, one mosquito started to run around Yogananda. He was really disturbed. “These mosquitoes, they don't anyway allow me to sleep in the night and they don't allow me to live even in the day time.” So he wanted to put an end to this mosquito. But then he saw the Master teaching the wisdom. It does not look nice, If he kills a mosquito within the classroom.

The master was lecturing upon Bhagvad Gita. He suddenly stopped lecturing and addressed, Yogananda. “You have already mentally killed the mosquito. Now it is only a physical act. Go ahead and do it.” The instinct to kill is already there in the mind. A physical act does not make more difference as far as your awareness is concerned. The student felt very shy and after the class is over, the Master asked Yogananda “Where do you think God is?” The student answered “Everywhere.” “Everywhere?” the Master questioned. The student said “Yes” “If he is everywhere”, is he there in the mosquito or not, “questioned the Master. That was a revelation to the student. Thereafter he started seeing the movement of the energy in the mosquito during the night times. Since that day not a single mosquito created any problem to him. On the contrary, they have become friendly to him.

The very word 'Maitreya' which we use and sing means 'the friend'. He is friend to every being in the universe. So we can also be friendly to all. At least that should be our ideal. That is why Master C.V.V. called his organisation 'Yoga School Friends.' It is a school for yoga friends. And he said, “You recognise in your own being, who are the persons whom you do not like. Just ask yourself. Then you will have a list of them. And you also see, what are the situations which you do not like. Then meditate upon those situations and those persons as I Am.” This is the straight way to overcome one's own limitations. You do not have to do varieties of practices to overcome limitations. The moment you recollect the universal energy, its presence is with you. The 'Presence' dissolves limitations.

Recollection is one of the chief keys for realisation. When we are in such recollection, we are in the presence. When we are in the presence, our limitations do not function. When the presence disappears, the limitations appear. They do not co-exist. When the limitation is present, the presence is not present. When the presence is present, the limitation is not present. We would like to be beyond the limitations we suffer from. So the key given is - “Recollect me in all. Live in my recollection.” This teaching is age old and it is once again recollected to us by the Master so that we do not get into roundabout practices to realise truth.

Another contribution from the Master is the introduction of the energy that has fluxed into our system. It enables quicker building of the etheric vehicle in every being. We are the fifth sub-race. As we get into the next cycle of time, we will be functioning more with the etheric body than with the gross physical bodies. It was so before we have descended into the gross physical bodies. There was a time, when we were moving with subtle bodies and have later taken to the coats of skin due to the functioning of the time in its involutionary process. Now time has come that we shall work out the evolutionary process, where we need to build the etheric vehicles and move in the air!

Air is the chief element of Aquarius. Air also indicates a state of liberation, unconditioned by the dense physical matter. There is a grand work that was initiated 5000 years ago to prepare beings to gain etheric vehicles on a large scale. Now the time has come that there is need for pushing up the programme. Consequently the energy descent took place. It is understood that this energy has visited us from the system of Sirius. The energy has the Aquarian quality and found its expression through an Aquarian Master, who is born with moon in Aquarius. Also he is born in a place, which also carries the Aquarian Energy, called Kumbakonam. He channelled the energy and started distributing it since 1910. The idea is to quicken the process of building up of the Antahkarana bodies so that Man realises that he is immortal and he is residing in a gross physical sheath and that he is not the physical sheath.

That it is only a vehicle given to him to function in the world of five elements. That essentially he is a being of light. That he is given a vehicle that facilitates functioning in the objective world. This is one aspect of the work relating to the energy.

Then the energy was also introduced into other kingdoms to push up the evolution of the mineral, the plant, and also the animal. That is how we see a sea change in our scenario since 1910. The expansion of consciousness is very tangible. The energy contributed to break the matter in many ways and the thoughts relating to materiality. It resulted in explosion into two wars and also explosion of the atom. Man gained more and more understanding of the space, because Aquarian Age is the age, where space and its properties are completely understood. That space pulsates, that all that is happening is within the space and that there is space in every formation, are some of the revelations of the age. All formations are in the space and within the formations there is the space. Just like there is space within this hall and outside, the all permeating presence of the space consciousness can be gained during this age. To gain that man also needs to gain more and more realisation of his etheric existence.

It is for that reason, the morning and evening prayers are suggested. One reason is to recollect the energy throughout the day and to live in it. The second is to develop the etheric vehicle. The sounds that he has given hold the key for development of the etheric form within the being. Once the etheric form is well developed, man continues to live with awareness through series of incarnations. This process is there even in the previous times, but it is now distributed in greater measure, because the time permits it. And as a consequence, those who function with the sound, quickly overcome their personal karma and gain the etheric vehicle and thereby gain the state of immortality.

I have frequently informed you that we need to lift ourselves up from the stalk of the base centre. We need to sit on the four petalled lotus of the base centre than to get positioned in an inversed fashion in its stalk. When the sound is invoked, there is a process that is switched on in one's own being. That is why the Master says, “See what is happening within you having uttered the sound.” A busy mind cannot see. A mind that is preoccupied with the objectivity cannot see. That is why the Master suggests. “Cut off from the objective activity at least 10 to 15 minutes before you think of getting into the prayer. Prepare and orient yourself physically, emotionally and mentally into the prayer. “If we suddenly jump into a meditation hall at 6 o'clock, we bring with us all the previous thoughts relating to the acts done. There is a need to get oriented to it. 10 to 15 minutes before you shall stop speaking and prepare your body. If required, you can even have a shower, because a shower cuts off the energy system from the previous linkage. The thoughts that hover around you are all cut off when you have a shower.

Then to orient the emotional part of the body, you can think of keeping a flower and an incense before the picture of the Master. It is a process of orienting the senses towards the task. Then sit quietly for a while, travel mentally from head to foot to see, if all is O.K, within the body. If there is any part, which is put to discomfort due to sitting posture, take to a posture which enables you to comfortably sit. Master C.V.V. does not insist upon a squatting posture. Siddhasana, Padmasana… he does not insist upon. He does not even insist upon your sitting. He says, “If you feel yourself not able to sit, you can even lay down.” Think of the energy through sound and see the functioning of the energy in you. Observe the movements that happen within you. These moments will get you a posture which is convenient to you. Regardless the posture, engage yourself with the movements that are happening within the body.

This enables observation of the pulsation taking place within the body. Live with the pulsation as far as it is permitted. The pulsation makes its own movements, you do not have to direct it. As long as the pulsations happen perceptibly to you, you cannot open the eyes. As long as these pulsations take place, there are adjustments carried out in the body. Each person requires adjustment in different aspects. Some require adjustment to the intellect. Some require adjustment to their emotions. Some others require adjustment to their physical vehicle. If you sit dispassionately with the right orientation through preparation, the energy that is invoked through the sound will start conducting the required repair. The Master said, “Leave the vehicle to me. I shall repair it for you. If you hold it to yourself, I cannot repair.” If our car is in repair, we leave it to the mechanic. We cannot sit in the car and ask the mechanic to repair it. We will interfere now and then with the mechanic. Then the mechanic says, “You as well do it yourself. Do not suggest anything to me. If you think I can repair it, you leave it to me, otherwise, you do it yourself.”

The Master said, that he shall repair it, if we leave it to him. And when the process takes place in the morning, while we are at work in the objectivity, the repair work is also attended to simultaneously by the Master. And when we meditate in the evening, then the repair work is done during our sleep hours. The Master said. “When once you invoke the sound, it functions for 12 hours. Make sure that before 12 hours, you make one more invocation of the sound. Keep the continuity of the 12 hours invocation”. If it is done regularly like that, the repair is continuous and within one Jupiterian cycle, the eleven vibrations in us are adjusted, the vibrations relating to the five physical organs and five organs of senses. The 11^th one is mind. Mind, the five senses and then five organs of action are put to repair, when the process is worked out continuously.

And in the 12th year, you are already prepared to work for the co-beings effectively. One can thus become an effective server of humanity. This energy system is picked up by the Hierarchy and is distributed thereafter in the name of Avatar of Synthesis, which has appeared through the writings of Master Djwhal Khool through Alice A. Bailey. The Avatar of Synthesis is the energy that has fluxed into our system to which the first medium or the channelising agent has been the one whom we call Master C.V.V. It is picked up and distributed through the ten seeds, the seed groups which are mentioned in the books. It is introduced into the scientific system and science found it's expansion. It is introduced into education system which is finding its own evolution. It is introduced into the administrating system of the nations. It is also introduced into the system of health, that is medicine, health and hygiene. It is introduced into the religious systems.

That is why man today is trying to look out beyond the view point, that is given by each religion. The truth through cycles of time settles down into a tradition or a religion. The more and more, when it gets externalised, the more and more it gets distorted through generations. That is why every religion carries the truth, but in a distorted fashion. So an impulse is also given to religion to gain the original concept, with its total import. The varieties of religions are the varieties of the windows, that enable us to see the sky. Each one has his own window to see the sky and he feels that this is the only window to see through. And then they worship the window! They decorate the window. Suppose, the window carries some design, the people start believing, that the sky outside carries these designs.

Suppose, we have some horizontal bars to the window and we see the sky, through such a window, it can be said that the sky carries horizontal bars. If someone has vertical bars, as he sees through the window, he says, “No, no, the sky has vertical bars, not horizontal ones.” According to the design the mind carries, he tries to settle the absolute into it. The Aquarian Age is one, where one realises the energy without its name, its form and even its sound. It is the source of all names. It is the source of all forms, source of all sounds and colours. All that is, descends from it. That is why it is called IT or THAT or even not defined. From that standpoint the descent is understood. So the one, who sees from that standpoint of synthesis, understands, when the other speak. If one comes to him and tells him, that God carries horizontal bars, he accepts, “Yes, it is true.” Because it is true to one, who is seeing that way. And it gives him the right impulse to see the sky without the bars. The undefinable one is defined and in the definition he is able to see. So he does not deny the definitions. He tries to gather them together and show the varieties of definitions and build into the truth even. That is the work, which has been picked up and is given out through all the New Age Teachings.

Our venturing into colours without forms and our venturing into sounds is only a step towards realisation of this Aquarian Energy. The ultimate understanding of this energy is the energy exists beyond all thought, but also in the thought. It can exist in varieties of thoughts, just like the ocean is existing in varieties of waves. The understanding is also,, that it exists in emotions also. There is no denial of somebody's emotion. Emotion is like muddy water, but still it is water. If the mud is distilled, the water is available. There is a way to collect the pure waters from muddy waters. Emotions are not denied, intellect is not denied. Nothing is denied. All is seen in its fitness, because the energy exists in all possible ways. Nothing exists in creation without it. So if we are denying something, we are only denying to that extent, the original.

That is why, the path is the path of inclusion, but not the path of exclusion. It. is a path of agreeability, but not a path of criticality. It is so encompassing, that it includes the fitness of evil in the society. Evil has a role to play for rectitude. It is like the sickness in the body. The sickness is an indication, that you need to rectify some of your behavioural patterns. The sickness indicates that you need to rectify. As you rectify, the health is restituted. So sickness is. a means to health. That is how it is seen. When we are sick, we have to get into a kind of introspection or retrospection, review the whole thing and see, where you need to rectify. If you look to yourself objectively, each one of us may find varieties of situations for rectification. There is need to rectify at the thought level, at the speech level, at the level of use of the senses, at the level of use of the physical body, at the level of our interaction with the objectivity.

So the difficulties that we encounter in life should be understood as a signal for rectification. They should not be understood as some kind of sin. Sin is nothing but a projection of our deficiencies. Fill up the deficiencies and make it an all-round energy system. This is how there can be an all-round development. The more you develop in this fashion, the more you will be able to see the fitness of all that is. There is no such thing as rejection. That becomes possible, when we see the unity of all as we see the unitary existence. And when we see the one existence as all, that is the pure love. That is the love which is spoken of in the Scriptures. It is not an act of one loving the other as personalities. Realisation of oneness is a simultaneous realisation of love pure. Since you know that each unit is a part of the whole by itself.

There is no such thing as your own hands beating yourself. There is no such thing as the right hand disliking the left hand. Within one human frame all limbs function in co-operation with each other. Because there is an awareness that it is all one. So is the case when the oneness is realised. There will be no rejection, there is all love. So much is the work of synthesis, for which seeds are being laid now. We are now walking into the second round. It takes about four rounds to realise this truth on a very, very tangible basis. All pioneering work goes unnoticed up to a point of time. Let us carry the spirit of pioneers and build up the etheric vehicles. What is said now is mostly contained in the book 'Aquarian Master' It is only recollected to bring in the presence once again on this May Call Day.

We need to gain this loving understanding of people. If we have learned to include, we get included. That is the trick of the whole game. Include to get included. If we reject, we get rejected. These are the hard truths of life. As much as you neglect anyone, you are also neglected. And as much as you try to include and reconsider, so much people consider you and include you. That is why the fundamental teaching of Master C.V.V. is “Learn to include”. Include with a higher understanding that, that which is included is also part of the soul. Normally we are at discomfort to include any one or any concept, when we see the personality or the concept, devoid of synthesis. Anything that springs up as a concept also springs up from the same source.

So if there is a view point of a concept, it has also emerged from the same ocean of synthesis and it has its own fitness. That is why the occult truth is “There is no waste thing in creation, but there can be wasted things in creation”. From the view point of an initiate, there is no such thing as waste in creation. There is no such thing as useless concept or thing or person in creation. Each has it's purpose and we do not know the purpose and hence we feel that it is a waste. More often, when we ourselves stuck in some concept, we find, other concepts are not useful. This is only because we are stuck in a concept. When we function, we function through concepts. But when there is no necessity to function, we should also come out of the concept. A concept is a thought. A thought is a facility to function through. When the functioning is over, you should be able to leave the thought, remain as yourself. When the purpose of functioning is over, we should be able to remain without any frame of thought.

When we are frequently functioning with a thought, unconsciously we frame ourselves into that thought. Then we get framed and thus get stuck. The concepts of wisdom and even the various names of the Masters, are all the facilities to function through, but we are in fact the essence of the whole thing. If we learn to be so free from thought, we can function through any theological system. We do not have to necessarily get stuck with a thought coming from a source. We can experience the variety of the theological thoughts remembering the essentiality of oneself. We can with facility function with the Sufi system, if the situation demands. We can function with facility with the system of Sai Baba, when the situation demands. We can function with Tantra according to the situation or with Yoga according to the situation and with every variety of Yoga-Raja Yoga, Agni Yoga, Kundalini Yoga. So many Yogas are there. All these in the ultimate, are just the same. But according to the variety of the soul qualities certain souls are attracted to certain systems. We should understand that if a particular person is following a particular concept of theology, that means the quality of the soul is proximate to the quality of that concept of theology. To be able to function with all theological concepts, is an aspect of synthesis.

But there is a higher aspect of synthesis, where you can also function with the concepts of materiality with the same ease and facility. You can meet a sportsman as a sportsman, you can meet a businessman as a businessman, you can meet a professor as a professor, you can meet a medical practitioner as a practitioner, you can meet a person with metaphysics as a metaphysic. This becomes possible, when we have not taken to a standpoint as such. We are with the essence. And according to the other person we meet level. That is what we call “meeting levels.”

To meet level means to meet at the level of comprehension of the person with whom we are interacting. You need not always speak of philosophy. With children, you be a child. According to the other person, you meet level. When you have met level like that, the other person feels the brother in you. The quality of habit is such that it helps you to gain certain things and it also makes you lose certain things. Your continuous functioning with a thought makes it a habit for you to be in it, to speak of it and to discuss about it. And then slowly that thought is so predominant in you that you live in exclusion to all other thoughts. You even avoid persons who have other thoughts than this. That is how we create circumscriptions around ourselves. That is how many groups are not able to find a good expression into the general society. We function with a thought to derive the alchemy relating to it. But we do not have to frame ourselves into it and then speak at places not required and with persons not interested.

That is why there are many quotes given in the book 'Aquarian Master'. One is 'to be spiritual is to be normal' or 'to be spiritual is to be natural'.' Normally we find abnormalities when we walk into a new thought of theology. Accept it and work with it but do not attach excessive emotion to it. As much as you feel the truth of the thought, so much others feel the truth of their thought. It can be another theological thought or it can be another thought even without theology. That is where it is said that we are living with the background consciousness. We live in awareness of the background. That is what we say in the Invocation.

When we live in awareness of the background, we are able to meet the projections of the others at their level. More often we are unable to meet the others at their level, because we maintain a level. Please remember, when we maintain a level, we miss all those who have other levels, higher or lower. That means, you can only meet people, who are of the same wavelength. You are not able to meet people, who have a wavelength, which is lower to you, or which is higher to you. We get preoccupied with our own feeling of our level. That is where we miss much in life. In so far as we meet others' levels, maintaining ourselves in tune with the background consciousness, with great facility one can function with any thought, any person and in any situation. A good student of spirituality is one, who can meet life in all its aspects without defining the preferences, the likes and dislikes. Since we get accustomed, through a practice, to a thought, very often we are not open. We are not open to a higher dimension of the same thought even. That is how, even while practicing, there is lot of missing of opportunities offered by life.

There is a classical story relating to it, which is worth re narration. Meaning, it was narrated already once. There were some builders, who realised that they are very good builders and they have all come from the same school of building. They are taught some techniques by a school, the techniques to build, and they have grown very, very successful with those techniques. Once they all met. They said, “We all belong to the same school of building. We have learned the technique in the school and thereby prospered. Let us build a temple with our building techniques in veneration of the school to which we belong.”

They started building a temple and then the word spread all over that certain classical builders are building a classical temple. Even while the temple is being built, many people used to come, visit and praise the good work that is in progress. This word spread so much, people came from all corners of the land. We say the four corners of the land-East, West. North, and South. One man came, say, from West. When he came, he also brought with him a brick for the temple. He met the builders of the temple and said, “If you feel, you can use this brick also in the temple.” Then came another from the East. He also came with his technique of building and brought a brick with him. He said, “If you wish, you can use this brick also in the great temple that you are building.” Then the builders made an esoteric meeting - an exclusive meeting to discuss. The two bricks that came from the East and the West are not from the same school to which they belong. That means, they are not prepared according to the techniques that they are taught. And they do not belong to same school. So they had difficulty to accept the two bricks. Very politely they informed the two men that they cannot accept those bricks, because they do not suit the temple.

So the man from the East walked back with his brick and the man from the West also walked back with his brick. As the temple was nearing completion, a situation emerged that the temple needed exactly the same kind of brick? that were brought to them from the East and the West. Then the group of builders did not know the technique relating to the building of such bricks. So the temple is short of two special bricks. They have no technique to prepare them. So they once again had an esoteric meeting and they discussed and discussed and discussed. It only resulted in discussion. There was no repercussion.

Then suddenly, it struck to one of the members, that the bricks which they are in need were brought by the men from the East and the West. Then he informed the group, 'These two bricks came to us even before we knew that they were needed for the temple. The Lord of the temple knew that we needed two bricks, which we cannot by ourselves prepare. When these bricks came on their own, we rejected them. And now we are in a situation, where we are in badly need of those two bricks only. How unwise were we in rejecting those two bricks. Had we accepted those bricks, the temple would have been complete. Now the temple is incomplete. We believe that we are the only classical builders and rejected the work of the others. That which we rejected has now become our deficiency.” This revelation from a group member has been a good revelation to the entire group. Then they decided that they should go to the East and West in two groups and find the two men and request them to give those two bricks and if necessary beg them.

So they went in search of the two and after a very long search they could identify them. Then they recollected to them about the bricks that the men of the East and the West brought to the temple. “We' need those bricks, would you kindly give”, the group asked. Then the two smiled, “We know that you need them. That is why we brought them. But you thought, that we do not belong to your school. That is true. But we belong to an advanced school. Since you do not know that you need them, we ourselves brought them to you. And we also know that you will one day come to us for these two bricks. So they are kept in the shrine room. You may pick them up and complete the building.” Thus the temple was completed and the builders realised that they shall never reject as useless , anything that comes to them.

When anything comes to us, it is sent to us by nature, be it a thing or a situation or a person. You shall have to see the divine hand behind the person or the situation or the thing coming to you. You have not asked for it. It has come to you. When it has come to you without being asked, there is need for a deeper introspection and understanding. It is sent to you by The Divine, when it came to you on its own. The Divine overviews as to how you would interact with that which is sent by Him. If you do not use or if you misuse or abuse or underuse, you will loose one opportunity for life. It is only The Divine that visits you in varieties of forms and situations. Hence one should carry an alert eye and an alert ear to listen to and to look to the message sent by The Divine. Blessed is the one who can listen to it and see to it. Otherwise he will die with his own concept, with his own busy mind.

Such is the technique of synthesis. That all is accepted and its fitness is found. And according to the fitness it is used with great responsibility. It is not used in the sense of exploitation. It is used in the sense of inclusion. That is the way to grow, to grow in comprehension, to grow in awareness and there is no limit to it until one is identified with 'it'. That is the essential teaching of synthesis. That is what we should recollect on this august day.

Let us continue to work in that spirit. To exclude is very easy for a man of Kali Yuga. The process of learning is to include. As much as we include others, so much we are included by those whom we follow. If we exclude people and then seek inclusion by the ones whom we follow, they also exclude us. You include those who come to you. you are included by those whom you follow. That is how it is. And that is how it is with the nature. We will also try to pick up this principle of- nature. That is
