The Theosophical Movement

1. Dedication

Don Pedro Nahum, the noble disciple, invited Sri K. Parvathi Kumar to render teaching and practice to the groups whom he trained strenuously for 30 years in Argentina. He is the pioneer that inaugurated the teachings of the Hierarchy and transmitted them untiringly for 30 years, till he found his colleague, his brother from the East to continue the work.

In 1992 he invited Sri K. Parvathi Kumar, from the East. He saw and he listened. He was fulfilled in his heart. He passed on a silver cup of mate - the herbal drink, to Sri K. Parvathi Kumar and said: “You have come. My work is completed. I know you will come again and again I can leave in peace now. You may not see me in this physical sheath when you come next”. He passed away on the day when Sri Kumar left India to Europe and South America in May 1993.

Don Pedro Nahum now lives in the hearts of his pupils in Argentina. He is a fighter, a noble character, a fearless disciple that dared, risked and remained silent. His will is strong. His work forms the foundation for the future growth of the Theosophical Movement in Argentina. He introduced the spiritual thought in social, political and Masonic circles.

The talk of Sri Parvathi Kumar on the Theosophical Movement was heard for three days by Don Pedro sitting in the front seat of the conference hall of Our Lady of Fatima in Posadas. He was full of joy.

Sri Parvathi Kumar feels it his bounden duty to dedicate his talk to the departed disciple and hence this dedication to Bro. Pedro Nahum. May he be pleased of this cordial presentation.

2. Selfmagnetization

We all have a common purpose when we gather here. That purpose makes us gather now and then. That purpose has been guiding our lives. That purpose is better known to the Master. It is that purpose which has been guiding us and it is that purpose which makes us meet now and then, because the purpose wants to be made known more by itself. Each time when the light wants to shine forth more, it makes its own plan to gather people, so that there is a little more light in our lives, and also transmit a little more life around us. It is a process of light manifesting itself and in so far as the vehicles co-operate the light shines forth more and more into the vehicle, and gradually, as the vehicle is transmuted, the same vehicle is also used transmit light. So, the transmission of light is possible when the vehicle is transmuted. Magnetism can be spread by an iron piece which has become a magnet. There cannot be an iron piece which can transmit magnetism without it being magnetized. The process is self-magnetization as the first step, thereafter the magnetism spreads through the iron piece. Earlier it was an iron piece and later became a magnet, and in so far as it remains a magnet it can spread magnetic current. The purpose intends that all those who follow the purpose get magnetized. Without getting self-magnetized there is no wisdom in trying to magnetize others. It is like an iron piece trying to communicate to another iron piece. Theosophy fundamentally speaks of this concept. We have to get enlightened to enlighten. This is the basic purpose of the Theosophical Movement.

Theosophy is Divine Wisdom and it moves. That is the Theosophical Movement. Wisdom moves through those who have become wise, it cannot otherwise move. Periodically there is the movement of wisdom. There are small periods of movement and bigger periods. There is Theosophy right from the beginning of humanity. It is not correct to say that the Theosophical Movement started with Madam Blavatsky. Madam H.P. Blavatsky inaugurated a period, a movement of Theosophy. Periodically man gets an opportunity to move into the Divine Wisdom and thereby to realize his own identity. The identity of every being is that he is a Son of God. Through cycles of time man forgets that he is a Son of God and again through cycles of time he is recollected that he is a Son of God. Time cyclically brings to us the wisdom. One such cycle of time which we know is the Theosophical Movement, brought to us by Madam H.P. Blavatsky, and hence we shall have to be grateful to her. She has brought light once again to humanity, from certain sublime centres of humanity. The wisdom did not flow from H.P. Blavatsky, but it flew through her. It could flow through her because she became a good channel to the wisdom. Without her becoming a channel or without her getting magnetized, she could not have given the wisdom to the world.

The first and fundamental step as we understand for theosophical experience is, that we work with the wisdom upon ourselves. We need not be anxious to spread the wisdom without working it with ourselves. It is a wrong understanding if one thinks that he can spread wisdom. Wisdom knows how to spread itself. It only needs channels. If we have a wall of bricks the sun rays cannot enter into the hall, but if we have a wall of glass the sun rays can enter into and through it. The difference between an initiate and non-initiate is between the glass and the wall of bricks. In the wall of bricks the matter is very heavy, in the glass the matter is very light. The wall of bricks does not allow the light to pass through, the glass allows the light to pass through. When the glass allows the light to pass through, the glass is only enabling the light to pass through, but the glass cannot claim that it is giving the light. What can the glass do when there is no sun? That is all what an initiate can do. He can be a transmitting point for wisdom but he is not the giver. The giver is someone whom we do not know. We do not know because we are too much preoccupied with names and forms. Even the sun whom we know as the centre of the solar system, is not giving the light. He is himself a channel to a higher centre. Like that, everyone is a channel to a higher centre. Like that, everyone is a channel and that which we know as “The Absolute” channels itself through all these channels. This understanding is the basic understanding of Theosophy. That is light exists, wisdom exists and it moves according to a timecycle, and there are some channels which enable its movement. The best that a channel can do is to see that it becomes transparent. What all one has to do is to see that he becomes transparent as a vehicle. Thereafter it is for the light to decide what to do, how to do, where to do and when to do. Even if the glass is transparent, it cannot give light when the whole area is clouded. Just like a glass cannot give light, a prepared vehicle cannot give light unless it is intended in the higher circles. That is why an initiate functions in tune with time and space. He does not think that he can spread it everywhere, anywhere and any time. He stands as a focusing point and according to the decision of the higher planes he transmits it. That means that he is all the time ready to transmit. So, a theosophist is a channel and he functions according to the time and the place.

There was an opportune time around the end of the last century where wisdom decided to dawn itself. Then they found a vehicle pure enough, transparent enough, brilliant enough to reflect the wisdom, that is the vehicle whom we call Madam H.P. Blavatsky. She is the one through whom the wisdom could reach humanity from the Masters of Wisdom. Remember that even the Masters of Wisdom are not the givers. They act according to the purpose coming from the Higher Centres. It is the understanding of time that they carry and accordingly when it is dawn for humanity the light is transmitted.

3. The Four Functions of a Theosophist

The Theosophist is defined in the Ancient Scriptures as a person who carries out four functions.

First: “To continuously learn wisdom”

There is no end to wisdom. No one can say: “I have learned”. If someone says so, he is an ignorant, because an unlimited, infinite aspect cannot be said to be totally understood. Until and unless one identifies with Space through the Cosmos, he cannot say that he has known everything and when he has identified in such a fashion, he will never say that he has known. The identified one has no speech. The one who is less identified speaks more, the more identified speaks less. A theosophist is one who continuously learns. It is a continuous process of learning and his daily routine includes learning. He has to learn on a daily basis and make notes of his learning. If one does not do it, he is not a theosophist. Learning is the fundamental step towards unfoldment. So, there has to be a place and a time where you learn a Scripture on a daily basis. That has to be carried out without discontinuity. It has to be done as continuously as we eat breakfast every day. See how much we are concerned if we miss a breakfast! There is lot of concern when we miss breakfast or a cup of coffee. Do we have a similar concern when we miss our daily study in the morning? If we don't have that concern, let us not say that we are theosophists. Even the day we breath last, there is need to study, not to swell our heads with information, but to put it into our daily routine. Learning shall become an attitude of life. It is not merely learning through books, it includes learning through life events. To be open to learning is essential for a theosophist.

Second: “To practise the wisdom as learned”

The first step becomes useless, if you don't try to practise the wisdom which you learn on a daily basis. It is better that we don't study, because we will get imbalanced with too much study and too little action. The purpose of studying is only for practising. If there is no way to practise the wisdom that we study, it means that the manner and method of study is not known to us. A study which does not enable us to practise is not the right approach to the study. You shall have to consult someone who knows how to study. If someone tells you to study about the Cosmos to start with, he is guiding you in the wrong way. If someone tells you how to purify your three vehicles, he is making you approach wisdom in the right way. You can never understand the Cosmos, you can never understand the Solar Plane, you cannot understand the Planet unless you have understood yourself. You cannot understand yourself unless you have cleaned you three bodies. So, there has to be a study as how to clean the three bodies. We cannot keep our physical, emotional and mental bodies totally impure and think of wisdom. It is like building a thick brick wall and then asking the light to come in. However much you demand, the light cannot come in. However much you demand, the light cannot come through such thick walls. The study shall have to start with the study which enables us to practise in daily life, which will give us a rhythm which will continuously purify the vehicles. Is the whole process purification of the vehicles to start with? Unless the vehicles are purified, wisdom cannot be understood. Just because we know the alphabet, we cannot read “The Secret Doctrine”, we cannot read “A Treatise on Cosmic Fire”, we cannot read the World Scriptures. They only mean alphabets to us. We cannot understand the theme of the book. To understand the theme of “The Secret Doctrine” or “A Treatise on Cosmic Fire” one has to carry a crystal-clear mind, one has to have a clear emotional body (a body of pure waters, not muddy or impure waters) and also a pure physical body, because the mind is conditioned by the physical and emotional bodies. When mind is on one hand pulled by emotions and on the other hand by the body, how can such a mind gain clarity? Clarity comes only when the two lower vehicles are purified. Any study of wisdom to start with, shall have to be in relation to purification of the physical and emotional bodies. That means, working with the physical body and the senses. When we are not even able to overcome our sex instinct and when we are not able to overcome the instinct to eat all kinds of food, we cannot say that we have gained pure vehicles, which would enable us to gain pure or clean mind.

A clear mind is the third step. To gain a clear mind the two previous steps have to be worked out. One is related to the physical purity and the other is related to the emotional purity. There is a systematized approach to wisdom. Just because you are able to see the sun, can you directly jump up to the sun? That is what many people try to do with the wisdom. The goal is to reach the sun. There is no doubt about it, but there is a method to it. We cannot live in the madness of jumping up to the sun. The madness shall have to be replaced by a method, and that method is the method given as instructions in Patanjali Yoga or in the Bhagavad Gita. The fundamental steps shall have to be worked out, so that there is a gradual unfoldment. If you want to see the innermost petals of a lotus, the outer petals shall have to be opened first. You cannot break open the outer petals to see the inner petals. There is a process of gradual unfoldment of the outer petals and then the inner petals appear. How can an inner petal be realized without the outpetals unfolding? All the while we have been living in the exterior and now we decided to get into the interior. To enter into the interior from the exterior you have to first see that the exterior gives way to the interior. The physical and the emotional should therefore give way for the mind. We cannot have excessive sexual indulgences and also wisdom. Many people fashioned that mind is more important, and emotional and physical are not. Definitely mind is more powerful than emotions and body, provided the mind has been able to overcome the emotional and the physical conditioning.

There is a method of study which would enable us to practise wisdom. If we do not follow the method we only have confused knowledge in us, which is not wisdom. We only collect some information and more often suffer from it than experience it.

Do you know how to open a coconut and eat? In the Orient this is a simile given if a man who is unprepared is given wisdom relating to the Cosmic and Solar Planes, it is like giving a coconut to a monkey. The monkey does not know how to open a coconut. Any other fruit on a tree the monkey can directly eat it, but the coconut is much covered by fibres and skin. The skin and the fibres have to be removed and then the fruit has to be broken to experience the water and the pulp of it. The monkey has been given a coconut. The monkey knows that it is a fruit but he does not know how to open it to eat it. He cannot throw it away because he knows that it is a fruit. That is exactly the problem of a man who learns too much without practising. He cannot throw away whatever he has been informed and he cannot use it because he does not know how to work with it. So. the coconut and the monkey is a good example when wisdom does not find its expression in daily life. Of what use is the wisdom which cannot help us in our daily life? Why do we need that wisdom which is not useful to us? What is the need of wisdom which does not give us balance in life?

Pick up that wisdom which can be practised in daily life. What is happening in the constellation of Sirius or the Pleiades is of no immediate concern to us when our life is in a broken state. Our economic, social and domestic life is broken and we do not know how to balance it, but we want to think of the sky. The lack of approach to wisdom makes it so.

This planet is very beautiful, the plants, the animals and the human beings on this planet are also very beautiful. We do not think to establish harmony with all this on this earth. If we don't do it we are not fit to be theosophists. We shall have to work with that which is immediately surrounding us, be it human beings, be it animals, be it plants or minerals. Establish harmony with all that which is around you and you will be slowly able to gain the deeper aspects of wisdom. The very life should include methods where we build up harmony not only with human beings but also with animals, plants and minerals. Our attitude towards the animals, the plants and the earth has to change. Change means gaining harmony with all that we have around. How are we to interact with plants and animals? How are we to interact with human beings? How are we to interact with the other sex? Harmony is secretly held in this interaction. If we have lost harmony, it must be because we have not interacted well with either of these aspects. Our interaction with the other sex, or with the animals, our interaction with the plants or with the earth, decides our harmony. How to work with them is the fundamental wisdom which has to be practised if we wish to be theosophists.

Third: “Having practised wisdom, teach the wisdom experienced”.

The wisdom which we experience shall be have to be spoken. Frequently we try to jump from the first step to the third step without going through the second step. Thus, we only teach the wisdom which we have seen in the books. A theosophist is not the one who speaks from books. A theosophist is one who speaks his experience arising out of his study and practice of theosophy. There is a great difference between the two. In one case, he only knows how to reproduce the books, in the other case he can give the experience of wisdom. Giving the experience of wisdom is different from giving information about wisdom. There is a man who speaks the truth, there is another man who speaks about the truth. There is a great difference between the two. Many people can speak about the truth. But only very few can speak the truth. The one who teaches the wisdom that he experiences is speaking the truth, and the person who is speaking without experience is speaking about it, but not speaking it. Experiencing is the basis for teaching.

If there is a big volume written on magnetism and you keep that big book in a place with some iron pieces around it, when will the iron pieces become magnetic? Not even by the time we complete the Aquarian Age. Instead of keeping a book about magnetism, you keep a magnet around the iron pieces. How much time it takes for the iron pieces to become magnets? You know the answer. That is the difference between the one who speaks the wisdom experienced by him and the one who speaks wisdom which he has learned yesterday from a book. Whatever I studied in the morning, I try to tell you in the noon class and whatever I study in the afternoon, I tell you in the evening class. You may believe that I am a teacher, but you don't gain anything because I have not shared wisdom; I have only shared my mental understanding. There is what is called magnetization through teaching. That happens only when the wisdom is lived and taught.

Fourth: “His teaching should inspire to practise wisdom”.

It means, he studies, he practices. He does not propagate to others to practise wisdom. He practises it and he shares his practice with others and others get inspired and they too try to practise. If they try to practise he is not the cause of it; because they have decided to practise, they will practise. That means they get the inspiration (at the soul level) and they think that they should also practise. That is why in the wisdom practice there is no propagating religion and wisdom. Many people think that they can propagate wisdom, they can propagate religion. There is no missionary activity in wisdom. You keep acting, speaking less. Those who are around you get inspired if they wish to get inspired. You don't even have the responsibility to inspire. Inspiration naturally comes to them when you don t have the tinge to inspire. When you act, your acts are pleasing to others. They feel pleasantly touched by your actions and they feel: “why don't we also act like him?”. That is how wisdom is picked up when it is demonstrated. Otherwise it is like the book and the iron pieces. There is no urge to spread. There is no need of spreading because wisdom spreads itself.

4. To Be

You always remain to be: that is all. Remain or be. What is the activity the glass window is conducting? It is just there, it remains there. Is, be, or remain are the words which we have to learn to practise in life. If we remain stable. The light will conduct itself. If you think of spreading the light, you cannot do it. The sun spreads the light. You can be a transparent channel, so that the light shines through. While practising all the four steps what is gained is TO BE. To be exposed to the light at all times. When you are exposed to light, light expresses through you. When you are not exposed to light you cannot expose light - that is the beauty of the wisdom practice. Unfortunately we believe more in “doing” than in “being”. Are we human beings or human doings? Human being means' to 'BE human'. Just BE, then things will happen. How are we living? Is it because we are doing? We are not doing anything about our living. Are we doing the breathing? Breathing is happening in us. I don't think that we are so much bothered about our respiration. We have many other things to do than think of our respiration, but respiration is happening in us even without our thinking of doing. It is happening. The heartbeat is happening, we are not doing it. The pulsation is happening in us, we are not doing it. The circulation of blood is happening in us, we are not doing it. That is the being in us, and all our doings should not go contrary to our being. When our doings go contrary to our being, it affects our being. What is important is TO BE and TO DO THAT WHICH IS HARMONIOUS TO BE. Whatever we do, it has to be done in harmony with our being. When it is out of harmony, it effects the being.

Doing is exterior to being. Being is our nature. Doing is the periodical expression of ours. Can we continuously do? But we continuously respire. Being is continuous, doing is periodical. That which is periodical should not affect that which is continuous. These two parts of ours should be very clearly known to us. We may do many things in life; but in so far as it does not affect the being. If we get into desires which affect our being, we should choose between the two. Which is more important? Is it the desire or to be in harmony with the being? So, any action which has an impact on the being should be rejected outright, be it physical movement, be it habits like food, drink, be it sex, be it speech, be it thought. All these we cannot afford to entertain in so far as they affect our being. That is the understanding of the theosophist.

TEMPORARY AND PERMANENT VALUES

A theosophist rejects the so called valuable things, in so far as they affect his being. He has no more glamour for great things. He is more associated with good things than great things, because he knows that which is great glitters only temporarily, while that which is good protects continuously, permanently. We are more fascinated and attached to transient and temporary things and attached to things which are of a lesser value. Health is more important than the food which is available. Just because things are available we keep eating. It has a negative impact on health. If you realize that health is more important than the food available around us, we don't indiscreetly eat and land in ill health. If things are available in nature, it is not compulsory that you have to enjoy them. You shall have to use discrimination. Nature has made it available not only to you, but to so many other people. Just because it is available, you don't have to enjoy everything. To some, if food is available, they keep on eating. There is no discrimination. Only because it is available, we eat. It can be very early in the morning. It can be at the breakfast time. It can be in between breakfast and lunch. It can be immediately after lunch again! It can be again at the dinner and even just before slipping into sleep, just because it is available! Man has not been exercising his discrimination about eating. Animals have a rhythm of eating, they will not eat just because a very important man has offered them something to eat. An animal, if it has eaten its grass for the day, even if the Prime Minister of the country comes and feeds some grass, it will not eat. But we are willing to eat, because the person who is feeding is an important person. We don't have the rhythm that animals have with food, that is why they have fewer diseases than the human beings. So also, the animal has a season for sex. The human has no season; it can be day, it can be night, it can be any time, it can be with anyone! How can we say that we are evolved? Discrimination is not used in such fundamental things. We avail them because they are available. That is why the Oriental Scriptures say: “An indiscreet human being is worse than an animal”. A man without discrimination is worse than an animal - he is more a nuisance to Nature than an animal. This discrimination is one thing which is clearly carried out in relation to permanent and temporary things. What are permanent and temporary things. What is permanent and what is temporary? What is a priority and what is not? Health is a priority to available items of food in so far as eating is concerned. Nothing should be taken that harms us. Love is the priority of sex. Silence is the priority to indiscreet speech and thought. Purpose is the priority to all action.

THE PREPARATION

This is the approach to life, once again thought to be given to humanity, so that it can walk (through practice) into greater measure of light. The wisdom is experienced more in this cycle of time by those who exercise discrimination in relation to the activities of mind, senses and body. The Aquarian Age is true to those who follow these steps of wisdom. It is an opportunity for the human beings to get into the higher realms of life. It is not meant for all who are indiscreet. If a flight comes to Posadas it is meant for those who are ready at the airport with the tickets. It is not for the entire population of Posadas. So the prepared ones experience the Aquarian Age, and the preparation is in relation to the purification of the three vehicles. That is the entitlement. A person who is pure in his three vehicles and thereby conducts himself well in life and in light, even if he does not study Blavatsky or Bailey, is entitled to get into the flight. Those who study Blavatsky and Bailey but have not developed a balanced life, cannot get into the flight by showing the books. You have to show the tickets, not the books! How can you get to the airport and show the books and get into the flight? In the airport you have to show the ticket. The ticket for the Aquarian experiencing basically requires a preparation, and that preparation is a continuous purification of the three vehicles.

PURITY OF THE VEHICLE

Look at the lady who gave us the movement of enlightment in this cycle, Madam H.P. Blavatsky. In the words of the Masters, Madam Blavatsky was the purest vehicle available to them on the planet to transmit wisdom. The purity of her vehicle can be seen through the eyes which she carries, transparent and brilliant. She could control articles, persons with her eyes; that is the power she carried in her eyes. Where from has it come? It has come over a period of years of hard work. She always preferred to remain incognito and work. It is not necessary that she should be known to us. The Initiates don't have the glamour that they should be known. She has been a colleague of Mary for 5000 years. She has chosen herself to be known only now, and even now very little is known about her. While the first disciple to Master Djwhal Khul is Mary, the second disciple to Master Djwhal Khul is H.P. Blavatsky. They have been accepted almost in the same year. Madam Blavatsky is as ancient as Mary and as pure as Mary. She was chosen to spread the New Age Wisdom upon the planet. The preparatory work she went through, nobody knew. Also we do not know how much Mary worked to be so pure. To give birth to a Saviour requires purity of a very high degree. Not all people can give birth to high souls. For the high souls to descend, pure vehicles are required. Vehicles have to be prepared for the descent of the Higher Ones. Even in our own case the three vehicles have to be kept pure for the birth of the soul, which is like the birth of the Saviour. Such is the vehicle Madam H.P. Blavatsky carried. It became possible to move the Divine Wisdom (Theo-Sophia) once again on the planet, due to the transparency of the threefold vehicle of H.P. Blavatsky.

There are many who are not members of the Theosophical Society but they are theosophists. If one is a theosophist or not depends upon his life pattern and his demonstration. Whoever carries the understanding that I have spoken so far is a theosophist, whether he is a member of the Theosophical Society or not. They are the ones who can make an understanding of the Aquarian Age. They are the ones who can be the transmitters of the Aquarian Energy. Let us keep this understanding as the basis for the Theosophy to move in us and through us.

There has to be the movement of wisdom within us, causing the purification of the vehicles. When once there is the purification done, Theosophy moves around us and inspires others. We are not the ones who inspire, but it is Theosophy that inspires. That is what I call the Theosophical Movement.

5. Aquarius - Uranus

The understanding of the Aquarian Age has to do with the vibrations of the planet Uranus. Our planet Earth is able to receive the energies of Uranus since very recently. Ever since the discovery of radium, the humanity is able to receive the vibration of Uranus. When something in us is stimulated, it enables the reception of the corresponding planetary vibration. Our growing aware of it and its functioning with us are simultaneous. The planet Uranus vibrates with very high energies. It is going to bring many changes into our lives, provided we have done the homework. The effect of Uranus on our planet resulted in the discovery of uranium and in the stimulation of uranium quality in the human heart. Such stimulation is enabling the restructuring of the human bodies. This is what the planet Uranus is doing for us. The quality of uranium is being stimulated in the Heart Centre to restructure the body. Restructuring is necessary now to experience the Aquarian Energy. We cannot experience the Aquarian Energy with the kind of bodies we hold. We shall have to grow more and more etheric in our being and make the etheric body stronger and stronger, instead of making the physical stronger and stronger with all kinds of heavy foods.

Normally, when a person dies, not only his physical body but also his etheric body disintegrates. But if we follow a practice given by Theosophy (Wisdom of the World Scriptures), we can strengthen the etheric body. That is what all those whom we call Masters of Wisdom have done. The practice of wisdom enables us to strengthen the etheric body, which in turn enables us to rebuild the physical body at will. The Masters of Wisdom move with the etheric body and wherever they want they can manifest physically. The movements are in the ether, and according to the need, there is the manifestation up to the physical. After all, what we call physical includes the etheric. Ether is the subtle matter and that which we call physical is the gross matter to the subtle matter. That is what I was referring to as the atoms of the wall of bricks in contrast to the atoms of the glass. Ether is an aspect of primordial matter. Even that which we call light is matter. Just as we have planes of existence. there are also gradations of matter. There is the Cosmic existence, there is also cosmic material together manifesting the Cosmic Consciousness. The primordial matter is referred to in the Oriental Scriptures as Mula Prakriti, an aspect of the Divine Mother. So, the Mula Prakriti or the Divine Mother and the Parabrahman or the Father are eternally existing. That which we know as the ether is only an aspect of the Cosmic Matter. Even the Cosmic Matter has seven gradations in itself. What is intended in the Aquarian Age is to see that we grow more and more into subtler matter, so that we can experience greater measure of light. The more transparent the material is, the better is the shining forth of light. It is a process of transmutation of matter. Material transmutation is what is intended in this era.

Consciousness is ever present and its experiencing is on the basis of the coarseness or the subtleness of the matter. It you keep around the candle a metallic dome you cannot see the candle inside. But if you keep a glass dome it will help us to see the light. There is a glass dome in us also, around which we have built other domes which conceal the light. One dome that conceals is our mental body, the other is our emotional body and the third is our physical body. Thus, the physical, the emotional and the mental bodies shall have to be purified to strengthen the etheric body. This is exactly what the planet Uranus is doing for us. If we wish to tune up to the time, we should tend to be lighter and lighter in terms of our food habits and in terms of our emotions. We shall have to be very flexible in terms of our understanding, because thoughts also condition. So, these three layers shall have to be cleaned and cleaned and cleaned. That is what the planet Uranus plans for us through time.

The planetary principle of Uranus represents an aspect of Cosmic Consciousness which is an aspect of Space Consciousness. It is that Consciousness which builds the atoms of the various planes. The various gradations of matter are worked out by the energy of Uranus. Thus the key is held by Uranus relating to transforming the matter from gross to subtle and it also holds the key between the space and the atom. The science started with matter and reached the atom and the spiritual scientists started with space and reached the atom. From the ancient-most times the spiritual scientists knew what is Space and what is matter, they also knew the keys that can transform Space into matter. Now the science which we know is working out from matter towards Space. The scientists have been able to reach the atom and the release of energy from the atom during this century. They have been breaking the atom and they are finding more and more particles.

The atom was found to be divisible and they divided further and further and further. It is getting divided and divided. This is how we have the scientific theory of the Quantum Mechanics in this century. All this is happening under the influence of Uranus only. There are many scientists who are influenced by the energy of Uranus; hence there are so many discoveries relating to the matter. They are reaching a point to know where matter ends and spirit begins. They are experimenting about it. They are trying to reach the zero point, but they are not able to, because they are getting either into the minus or into the plus, but they are not able to find the neutral point. But in the Aquarian Age they will gain the knowledge relating to it. It is because it is so decided in the Higher Circles. Zero will be known to man once again. Then he can create atoms from Space. That is an important aspect of Uranus.

Zero gives us a negative impression, but in the Sacred Scriptures it is called Purnam. Purnam means “Fullness”. When it is full it is called Purnam, meaning ZERO. The Scriptures have two different names for the same symbol of zero. One name to the symbol is the Fullness, the other name is the Nil-ness. It is called Sunyam in Sanskrit, which means that there is a state of seeming nothingness, which is like the New Moon. The moon's absence on the No Moon day is but apparent; the moon is there but he is not visible to us. Thus, in the Scriptures, zero represents NIL and FULL. It is NIL yet FULL and it is FULL yet NIL! These two states are called the states of Sunyam and Purnam. The meaning of Purnam includes IS and IS NOT, IT IS and IT IS NOT. There is a state where there is creation. We are in that state now. Even when this creation is not there, it is there in potential from. Every night we sleep; that is Pralaya (dissolution) to our mind, senses and body and every morning we wake up to our mind, senses and body; that is the beginning of the creation to us. Every morning there is a creation and every night there is the dissolution of the creation relating to ourselves. There is the manifestation of creation and its dissolution on a daily basis. We are there when we are in the awakened state or when we are in the sleeping state. Are we not there when we are sleeping? If we were not there we will not wake up. Our existence is there and is also not there to us. During the day when we are busy with our mind, senses and body, we forget about our existence; but even when it is not there to us, it is there. That is why Purnam is called IS and IS NOT.

The numerical potency of Purnam or Uranus is between 9 and 1. That is why the symbol of a circle with a central point is the first lesson given to Madam H.P. Blavatsky, so that the IS and IS NOT aspect of the Creation is understood. It is there and it is also not here, according to comprehension. That is the first initiation that Madam H.P. Blavatsky was given in the Ashram of the Master and that led to all the wisdom she has given to us. So the creation of the atoms of all planes of existence from Space is conducted through this Purnam. That is the gateway into the Creation and also the gateway into dissolution (Pralaya). Thus the principle of Uranus holds the key to that which we call life and that which we call death. It also holds the key between the Noumenon and the Phenomenon. It holds the key for our getting into sleep and getting out of sleep. Uranus carries the way with it, and the ticket for the way is given if we follow certain spiritual disciplines. The passage leads to what we call “the Eye of Siva”, which it is said to be around a point above the brow Centre on the top of the forehead. There is “the Third Eye of Siva” in us and we have “our third eye” When we gain the vision of our third eye, we become soul conscious and we function as souls. When the Eye of Siva is opened in us, the whole secrets of the Creation are known to us. When man gets aware of the Eye of Siva, he can create and destroy. The knowledge cannot be given to the present human being, because he is destruction oriented, because he is selfishly oriented. It cannot be given to selfish people. It cannot be given to destructive people. It can be given to those who understand the Plan of the Creation. Thus, one has to gain fitness to go through the passage to gain his own third eye and the Eye of Siva.

Uranus offers the opportunity. Uranus is said to be a grand cosmic deity who keeps moving on a white dragon in the Waters of Space. Waters are always linked to Space. While there are waters which are emotional, there are also waters which are very pure in the sky. They are the waves of electricity. In the Waters of the Sky (electrical waves) the principle of Uranus moves upon a white dragon! The White Dragon is a symbol. Creation is fivefold and the Dragon is a symbol of the fivefold aspect of Creation. The Dragon is called Makara in Sanskrit. Makara means “five hands” (Ma + Kara). It is represented by the five pointed star. The one who knows the key relating to number five, knows how to create with the five elements. The fivefold way is presided over by the White Dragon. The deity that presides over Aquarius is called Varuna in the Scriptures. This Varuna has become Uranus in English. (It is interesting to note the name Guarani, which is the name of the indio race in this part of South America. They also had with them the keys of wisdom.)

This deity Varuna is said to move on the Space Waters mounting upon a white dragon. He is said to carry a weapon in his hand which is like a trident. Through that trident he makes waves of electrical force upon the Space Waters. That trident is called the principle on Neptune. Uranus conducts the whole process of bringing down the Spirit through the Space Waters into matter. He is the one, as I have said, who holds the key between the Noumenon and the Phenomenon. He is the gateway between nothingness and the apparent something. He is the gateway between birth and death. He is the gateway between sleep and awakening. All these secrets are now being offered by time once again to humanity. It is the gift of time to the humanity of this planet, which can be picked up if we follow a discipline. This is the further movement of Theosophy unveiled by an Aquarian Master, who conducted the work in continuation of the work of H.P. Blavatsky. The work of HPB is the prelude to the descent of the Avatar of Synthesis. The Aquarian Master inaugurated the Age of Synthesis. Now I will describe to you the movement of Theosophy in the post HPB era.

6. Master CVV

Invocation of sound through cosmic, solar and the planetary plane up to the individual plane, is the method of bringing down the energy with the help of the Uranus principle. There is a method of working with sound. Working with sound leads man into higher planes of his own consciousness. All the gradual steps that we have to work out with sound are given in a systematic way in the book “Sound”. They have to be followed, then we will become eligible to utter certain sounds to invoke the uranian energies into us and into the surroundings. That is the white magic. Through sounds you can develop a new life around that is what is intended by the Age now. Through proper utterance of sound we can make a path from the cosmos to the solar plane and from the solar plane to the planetary plane and from the planetary plane to the individual plane. When this path is well made then there is the quicker development of the human being. We are normally slaves of our own habits. We are not able to overcome them, inspite of our recognition of our limitations. Many times we recognize our limitations, but it is not a solution to overcome them. Solution can come only when there is a sincere approach to overcome the limitation. One solution given to overcome our imprisonment (by the mind, the emotions and the body) is invocation of the sound, through which from higher planes the energy descends into you and the sound reconstructs the body. That path through which the sound travels, the path of sound through Creation, is called Kundalini. Kundalini is the path from the cosmos to the individual. Master CVV brought the Uranus energies to this planet through the path of Kundalini. He is the one that gave the key to bring down the uranian energies for this planet through the path of Kundalini.

Master CVV linked up the uranian energy from the Cosmic Kundalini to the Earth Kundalini via the solar plane and from the Earth Kundalini to the individual Kundalini. He gave a “sound key” which can be invoked. Through the sound, there is a kind of stirring that takes place in the body. The Sound stirs within the body. It stirs the mass of the body and restructures it. That is what has been given as a gift to this planet in this century. Master CVV distributed it to the whole planet and established the sound key in the ether of the planet. Thereby it has become easy for the human beings to invoke it into their own being and restructure themselves.

The descent of this principle unto this planet is the second major movement relating to Theosophy. It has enabled greater enlightenment on the planet in all walks of the planetary activities.. The Aquarian Age happens once in every 25,920 years - “a great year”. Within a great year there is the circular movement of all the 12 Ages, like the Arian Age, the Piscean Age, then the Aquarian Age. Each Age is for a period of 2,160 years. Like that all the 12 sun-signs are covered during one great year. In this sub-period of 2,160 years (the Aquarian Age) man gains himself the properties of air. Aquarius stands for air, that means, the waters of the air. This is what the symbol indicates as a waterfall from a pot. Man has to get himself familiarized with the air aspect. That means he has to tend to be lighter in his material so that he can fly. That is the concept of Superman, which is going to be a reality in this Age. For that reason the body has to become light. We cannot be heavy with our mental, emotional and physical body. To make light the vehicles of the soul, the energy once again proposed itself to visit from higher circles. That is what happened around 1910, through the influence of the star Canopus and as a consequence we have the descent of the Aquarian Energy on the planet. This energy can be invoked through sound (the detail of the descent is given in the book “The Aquarian Master”).

The sound enables the invocation of the power of Kundalini. In the earlier times there was the awakening of Kundalini through certain sound patterns, which were given by the initiates to those who where fit to receive them. A wakening Kundalini was a great responsibility and the Master who could rise the Kundalini of the disciples was holding a very great responsibility in passing on the sound to the disciples. Because to awaken oneself though sound is the easiest and at the same time is a path that is full of difficulties. If one received the sound without being ready, it used to cause lot of problems to the one who received it. There was therefore, great responsibility on the one who was initiating. Many hundreds of human beings got self-realized through the awakening of Kundalini in the past, but the Masters were selective in giving the sound. Now with the visit of the Aquarian Energy to the planet, there is the mass initiation through the awakening of the Kundalini, for which sounds have been conceived and given. The beauty of the sound given by the Master CVV is that it gradually stirs the matter without causing damage to the vehicle. The vehicle and its present state of fragility is well understood. The process of stirring takes place as much as the vehicle can accept. The Master used to say that he would bore as much as is acceptable to the vehicles, so as to clean up the physical, the emotional and the mental, and make a fit body for the soul to function through. The Master calls it “The Yoga of Physical Immortality”. That means that the etheric body is well established and the other grosser material bodies are allowed to co-operate with the etheric. The life force functions through the body without any congestion. One of the main purposes of the visit of the Uranus principle is to establish the human in the etheric vehicle. The purpose of establishing the humans in the etheric vehicle is to enable him to function in tune with the Aquarian Age. Where there is congestion, the Uranus principle breaks it. Limitations are broken, frontiers are broken, the mental barriers are broken, because they are all points of congestion of energy. That is why, when this energies visited the planet, lot of congestion was cleared on it, through the two world wars we had.

“BEND OR BREAK” is the concept of the Aquarian Age. If we adopt the synthesis, then it is said that we are bent, but if we try to remain individualistic, we will be broken to accept the synthesis. That is how there will be convulsions of the races and the nations to gain a proper understanding of the purpose. Racism and nationalism have a limited purpose, and to that extent they have to be respected, but they cannot be blown out of proportion. Authority will also be broken in the Aquarian Age. Love is the power that rules in the Aquarian Age; hence, those who believe in authority will collapse, be it individual authority or national authority. Authoritarian approach will not help in the future. Love Energy prevails where there is sharing between those who have and those who have not. There will be expansion of consciousness. It is common with the individuals and also with the nations. Many changes are now happening at the individual, social and economic levels. It is only on account of this Energy of Aquarius.

We once again enter into a greater period of stirring at the end of this century. Many changes will take place. Those who carry understanding of life will emerge as the leaders, and those who are holding to power will be thrown into the background. The ability of man to walk into the Aquarian Age depends upon his loving understanding of life. Greater is the understanding when greater is the sharing. The concern for humanity, for the planet, for the animal and for the other kingdoms, decides the fitness of man to walk into greater life. We also have individually a responsibility in working with the Aquarian Age. It is to develop our vehicles and also help others to develop their vehicles, to make them more and more transparent. It is an important responsibility for those who wish to work with the Aquarian Age.

To make the bodies lighter we should tend more and more towards lighter food, in order to make it fit for the Aquarian Energies. Man has to become radioactive in this Age. He cannot any more carry the mass of the physical matter in him. As we walk into greater depths of the Aquarian Age, man need not eat! There will be no need to eat, only for fun - if you like once in a week you can eat, otherwise eating is not necessary! It is a wrong understanding that we build much energy by eating. In the past the understanding was: “the more you eat, the stronger you are”. Now if you eat more and more you will only build more and more disease instead of health, because the concepts have changed according to time. Heavier foods will make us heavier and sometimes contact disease. What are we trying to gain by eating food? We are trying to take in life force. So, the purpose and the essence of all eating is to build up life force. If life force is available without so much of food material, wisdom tells us that we should adopt that process. Life force is available not only in the food material but also in the water. There are people who live more on water and less on gross food. Much water is recommended for that reason to all spiritual practitioners. From heavy foods to lighter foods and from lighter foods to water is the course. Even water will be replaced as you advance in your spiritual awareness. Those who can absorb lot of oxygen into them through proper respiration don't need to eat or even drink for longer durations than now. It looks like a fairy tale, but it is not a fairy tale. It is true with those whom we adore (The Masters). Many Initiates who live in the Himalayas eat twice a year! We cannot live even if we eat twice a day. They are also human being. Don't think that they are gifted with such bodies; they have worked out. Everything is available in Nature but you have to work for it. No one will do magic to transform us; we have to transform ourselves. But when we make efforts to transform, lot of support comes. What is it that enables them to live without food in between six months? It is their ability to absorb more and more life force through inhalation. If once we know how to inhale well and how to exhale well, then the feeling for hunger will not be so much.

There is a way to live with air in the Aquarian Age. We read in the books that the Aquarian man flies and we have already the concept of Superman coming through the movies. He won't be like the Superman depicted in the movies. He looks very transparent unlike the muscular Superman in the movie. He does not look like a Tarzan, because his strength is not in the physical muscles. His strength is in his etheric body, which is transparent and supple, capable of floating in the air. This is not the first time that we are encountering with the Aquarian Age. Many times the Aquarian Age has come to be. In every great year there is an Aquarian Age. Making ourselves lighter and lighter, not only in habits of emotions also we are expected to move upwards in our awareness. We should have the aspiration to move upwards, aspiration to move up makes the energies move up from the emotional level to the higher levels. Now there is a downward movement of the emotions, through desires and through sex. There is the continuous downward movement of the energies. By holding on to a sublime aspiration, a fiery aspiration to do something good for humanity, we can arrest the downward flow of the energies and direct all these energies towards the fulfilment of the set goals. The process of evolution is the process of the return of the waters to the sky. The process of involution is the process of return of the waters from the sky to the earth. The downward movement of the waters is called involution, the upward path of the waters is called evolution. Waters here represent the energies, which keep moving the wheels circularly. There is the upward and downward movement of the energies. When there is the downward movement of the energy we gain more and more mass and material and when there is the upward movement of the energy there is the release from the material. Spiritual practice is a process of evolution, meaning, we are trying to gain the spirit more and more instead of matter. It is a process of release of spirit from matter. Liberation from matter does not mean total disappearance from matter. It means, less material and more spirit. Minimum material, more spirit. The most minimum material and maximum spirit is what we call “light”. Light carries more spirit and less material. That is the possibility we have. To that extent we can grow through the upward path of the energies. Sexual practice is a path towards the downward flow. If one is trying to practice spirituality and at the same time indulges in sex, he is working out the contrary. His goal is towards the East but he is travelling towards the West! Thinking that he is travelling towards the east he continues to get pushed towards the west. Hence, a proper understanding of sex is important if we wish to grow into lesser and lesser realms of material. The spiritual practice enables the upward progress, and the downward process happens when there is excessive indulgence in sex. Sex has a sacred purpose in Nature and it has to be conducted with a sense of responsibility. If it is not so, we are no different from the beasts. We have a responsibility to speak to our fellow beings about the proper functioning with the sexual energy and the proper functioning with food. We not only practice for ourselves but we inform those who are inclined to listen. Thus, regulations relating to lighter food, regulations relating to hygiene and health in sex go along with the practice of sound for the upward movement. Without these, the upward movement is obstructed. Hence, we have to work it out in ourselves and we also have to inform those who are inclined to work it out.

The Aquarian Age has already arrived and we have not yet become light. This is because we have not been able to overcome our old habits. If you look at the 20th century, along with so many achievements one great fall of the human being is in terms of his health. We go on inventing medicines on one side, but there are also new variety of diseases being produced on the other side. There is a continuous competition between drugs and diseases. The human being is producing many diseases now-a-days. In terms of diseases we have out beaten all our ancestors. We have a variety of diseases which the ancient did not have. This is because we are in a timecycle which requires us to tune up to its energies by adopting to habits which will enable us to keep health. The old habits shall also have to undergo a change according to the time. Especially bodies which have been coming into being after 1945, cannot take heavy foods like meat and digest it. Through time there is the modelling of the bodies. We have new model bodies. The model is also put to evolution from year to year. One of the chief works of the energy is remodelling the vehicles. The more sophisticated the vehicle is the fuel also has to be sophisticated. We used to give coal to the railway engine to run the engine, later we had engine with diesel gas. What happens if we put coal into a diesel engine? Or what happens if we put the petrol (which we use in our cars) into an airplane? What happens if we put “some grass in it? There was a time when we were moving in vehicles and the fuel for that vehicle was grass. When man was moving on horses, as his vehicle, the fuel for the vehicle was grass and water. Now we have a vehicle called car, it is a new model of vehicle to enable human being to move. Suppose we fill the petrol tanks of our cars with grass and water, the car will surely get into problems. So also the fuel which we use for our cars if we put it into an airplane the airplane develops some problem. So, new models cannot accept old fuel. You should have to give the fuel which is suitable to the new model. It is in this context that eating animal food is not suitable to the bodies which have been given birth after 1945. In respect of bodies that came into being after 1976 it is much more true and it is further true as we progress in years, because more and more new model vehicles are being worked out in the Ashram of the Manu. In the Ashram of Vaivasvata Manu, the energy of Uranus (that was received through Master CVV) is being worked out. They are continuously preparing new models. The new models have new fuel. So there is a responsibility to make a proper use of the new model. We shall have to quickly change our habits, that is why Master Djwhal Khul says: “As man progresses more and more towards Spirit, he naturally gets disinclined towards meat and towards heavy food, having got disinclined and stopped taking such heavy foods, he leaves much mass behind and progresses speedily later”. When we have made great strides in spiritualism and get back to our old habits, it would result in lot of congestion in the physical body. It will hamper our progress. This is true with food and with sex. They are the two heavy things we have, one relating to the physical habits and the other relating to emotional habits.

Through sound invoke the new energies or the Aquarian Energies and adopt the right habits relating to food and sex. When this is worked out we make great strides in terms of evolution of our vehicle. We have a rhythm to be adopted to invoke the sound. The sound is instructed to be invoked with a gap of 12 hours. If we do it at 6 o'clock in the morning we need to do it at 6 o'clock in the evening again. If we do it at 7 o'clock in the morning we shall have to do it at 7 o'clock in the evening. Each one can select his own rhythm. There is a common rhythm that is already followed by many. That is 6 o'clock in the morning and 6 o'clock in the evening. According to your health condition or condition of your work, in the beginning you can choose any rhythm of your liking. What is important is the invocation of the sound two times a day with a gap of 12 hours. When the sound is invoked, it triggers the working of the Kundalini in us. There will be a reparation work commenced the moment the sound is invoked. The repair work goes on for about 15 to 30 minutes, depending upon the need and the capacity of the vehicle. If you are ready for deeper repair the functions goes on for longer periods. Thus, daily two times the vehicle is repaired (the physical, the emotional and the mental).

We should not spoil that which is repaired during our day to day activity. The repair work is done in the morning and in the evening and is also done during the night in the sleep hours, when the two invocations are properly made. According to Master CVV, it takes 12 years to repair a body - it is a Jupiterian cycle. Jupiter takes 12 years to make one round around the sun. So one has to invoke the sound for a period of one Jupiterian cycle. It enables the reception of light. That which is repaired may also get spoiled if we do not act well in the daily life. Every morning the mother gives to her child fresh doting, the child through his indiscreet playing in the ground can attract lot of mud to the clothing. Thus, the repair work will get hampered when we act indiscreetly in daily life. When a vehicle is given for repair, when it is repaired and it is given back to us, we should not once again give back the vehicle by evening in a worse condition. You make too many accidents in a day through speech, through action, through thought, through food and through sex. The pentagon through which we spoil our vehicle is: food is one source of spoiling it, sex is another source of spoiling it, thought is another big source, speech is yet another source and action. This pentagon has its divine purpose, but we total inverse the purpose. We invert the pentagon by improper use of all the five. This is what is called sorcery. On one hand we are trying to clean up things and on the other hand we are spoiling that which is cleaned. It is like a frog in a well. A frog fell into a 30 feet deep well. It wants to get out of it. Through morning effort it makes a jump of 2 feet, then by the daily actions it falls by 3 feet by evening it is in a depth of 31 feet! Again in the evening it meditates and gains 2 feet, and through indiscreet actions in the night it again falls 3 feet and goes to 32 feet depth! In the morning it was only at the depth of 30 feet and the next day morning it is at 32 feet depth through spiritual practice! That means that on one side we are trying to ascend through a spiritual practice and on the other side through our indiscreet daily actions, we descend. That means we work it out in the opposite direction. The frog complains: “I have been practising for the last 10 years and I have gone into more depth than before”. Then you have to understand that the daily life of the frog was not in tune with Nature. The daily life should at least see that we don't fall that which is gained through spiritual practice. From 30 feet to 28 feet we should ascend (2 feet through a spiritual practice). The daily practice should not make a descent from 28 feet, so that the next spiritual practice will make us to ascend to 26 feet of depth. Many people practise spirituality for decades but remain where they are. That means that they are neutralising the spiritual practice through the daily indiscreet activity. So they remain where they are. That is the status even after one full life of spiritual practice! Those are the ones who get disgusted through spiritual practice and they complain: “We have been doing for so many years and nothing happened.” The answer is you have never allowed anything to happen. There is a need for practice in daily life to retain the repair that has been done through the sound invocation.

7. The Five Instruments of the Master

Master CVV has given two practices to be coupled with invocation of the sound.

The first is: “OBSERVE ME IN ALL IN YOUR DAILY ACTIVITY”.

“Observe me in all”. Every initiate says the same thing. Krishna said : “PERCEIVE ME IN ALL, SO THAT YOU ARE LIBERATED”, when God appeared to Moses he said: “I AM THAT I AM”, when Jesus came he said: “I AM THE WAY”, when Jesus said: “I am the way”, people thought that Jesus is the way. Jesus said: “I AM THE WAY”; we also have to say: ” I am the way“. Whenever an initiate speaks we shall have to wait to understand. We think we have understood what the teacher taught, but many times we misunderstand them. That is why we create so many missionary activities in the name of initiates. Pythagoras said: “MAN KNOW THYSELF”. When we know ourselves (the I AM) many riddles of our life are gone. Master Djwhal Khul says: “THE PURPOSE OF DISCIPLESHIP IS ACCOMPLISHED WHEN MAN EXPERIENCES THE SOUL IN ALL”. An accepted disciple is one who functions as the soul. To function as a soul means that he does not see the differences as barriers. That which we think as limitations and obstructions are found to be facilities by the one who functions as a soul. Every obstruction is a protection when there is lack of awareness. As we grow in awareness the obstruction is removed. See, when a hen lays an egg, the shell of the egg is a protection to the chick inside the egg. We should not be in haste to brake the egg shell thinking that it is an obstruction for the chick inside. When the chick inside grows, there is also the co-operation coming from outside for breaking the shell naturally. That which we call obstruction like family or work or responsibilities are not obstructions in the spiritual practice. More often they are around us to teach us something very valuable. Thus, one cannot avoid responsibilities in the name of spiritual practice. It is like breaking the egg shell from outside when the chick is not ready from inside. It would be exposed to certain strong energies which it cannot absorb. Suppose that you remove from the womb of a mother a child which is five to six moths old, it is dangerous to the mother and also dangerous to the child. Nature has a method of delivering, delivering from the seeming limitations. The limitations are well understood when we function as a soul and there is no effort to break the limitations, the limitations give way to the consciousness to progress as we ripen.

Many limitations relating to one's own understanding give way when we start observing the One in all. When we observe the One Soul in all forms, we start more and more feeling the fraternity. We don't feel the difference. Normally we recognize each other as Indian, Spanish, German, French etc. But as you grow in awareness, you will recognize each other first as human being. As human beings we are much more nearer while nationalities are certain seeming barriers, which have a purpose. The races and the nations have a purpose. If you are born in a particular race or in a particular nation, Nature knows better why you are to be in such a nation or in such a race. Work out harmony within the surroundings and gradually ascend from the barriers. The ascending is nothing but the process of seeing the soul in all. If I see the soul in all the friends that I have here, the national aspect does not create a barrier between me and you. To experience consciousness we don't have to mix up that which is Argentinean and that which is Indian. The integration shall have to be at the soul level, it should not be wrongly understood as mixing up at the personality level. My using your dress and your using my dress is not growing into synthesis. My entering into your clothes and your entering into my clothes is not what is required in spirituality. My entering into your habits and your entering into my habits is also not synthesis. What is expected is that I enter you as soul and that you enter me as soul. That is the common ground for all beings. At the point there is fraternity. At that point there is brotherhood. At that point there is love and sharing.

So, to be able to contact the soul in all forms we need to interact on a daily basis. That is the practice suggested along with the invocation of sound. When you are interacting with your parents, you can feel that you are interacting with the soul in the form of a parent. Likewise interact with the soul in the form of a patient, interact with the soul in the form of wife. Is not the soul existing as the wife? Is not the soul existing as the husband? There is no need to negate anything when .there is a proper understanding. Many people avoid responsibilities in the society in the name of spiritualism. They are theoretical spiritualists. They don't work for themselves in the society. They mostly live on others. Where does a theoretical spiritualist would find the soul? By finding the soul in all forms, you are able to include and accept every form and every being. Accepting means not necessarily hugging the form or getting attached to the form. Acceptance of the reality that everything exists as soul, the soul as the chair, the soul as the plant, the soul as the blackboard, the soul as the pen, the soul as friends the soul as Spanish, the soul as Swiss, the soul as residents of Misiones. or Buenos Aires. It 's only the soul that is existing in many forms and with many names.

Name and form are the coverings to the soul. We have to lift the name and the form to find the soul. If someone says that Rafael is an Argentinean it is only an information. What is it that is Argentinean in him? Is his hair Argentinean? Or his fingers, his teeth, or his legs? What is it that is Argentinean in you and Indian in me? It is only a facility for objective functioning. All humans have the same form with different appearances and all humans have names. Animals have no names. We have given them the name. The donkey does not know that he is a donkey. Do you realize that dog does not realize that he is a dog? Because to itself it is not dog, we gave the name to it. Who called it a dog? The dog never said: “I am a dog”. So also the case with us. Someone calls you for instance Rafael and you believe that you are Refael, but before you are named as Rafael what were you? There is a state where there is no name. What was the name before you were given a label called the name which we carry? That name is I AM. That is why everyone of us say: “I am Rafael, I am Omar, I am Alberto, I am Kumar”. I am is constantly there and it is suffixed by some name. There is an original name suffixed by some other name and there is an original form which is suffixed by some other form. That form and that name is common to all and the name we gave to it is the soul. That is also a name that we gave. The One which moves through name and form is not conditioned by name and form. That is what is called the soul you have to observe in all that is. In spirituality there is no such thing as inanimate thing. All is animate. If you take a chair and the wood of the chair, in the ultimate analysis they can be reduced into atoms and the inner activity of each atom is well known to the human being now. How can we call anything as non-animate, when so much of animation is there. There is motion in that which we see as inert and inactive form. According to the evolution of matter around the soul, the forms are less active or more active. There is no place where we do not see the soul. There is no place where the soul is non-existent.

In the ancient days to teach the omnipresence of God, the disciples were given coconuts. The Master gives coconuts to the disciples and tells them: “Go into the forest and break the coconut where no one exists. No one should witness your breaking the coconut. After breaking the coconut come back with the two pieces to me”. All the group run into the forest to break it quick and come back. They were in the Aquarian Age and they had to be very speedy. They went very fast into the forest. In a split second they opened the coconut and everyone made sure that no other disciple saw his breaking the coconut. All have broken the coconut and returned to the teacher. But there was one who did not return. Even in the evening he has not returned. The teacher was waiting for him. The disciples were impatient. They were discussing about the fellow who was still in the forest. They told their teacher: “Master! That man is always slow, he is not fit to be in the Aquarian Age. It is already 12 hours since he went into the forest and he could not find a place where no one can see him, so that he can break the coconut and come back”. The teacher was smiling and said: “Let us wait till he comes. After he returns we will learn why he is late”. Around 10 o'clock in the night the lonely disciple returned with his coconut in his hand intact. He could not break it. The teacher asked the boy: “Why could you not break the coconut?” The boy replied: “You instructed that I should break the coconut where no one sees it and through your teachings I have realized that the soul is everywhere. I could go to places where there are no humans in the forest. I could even go to places where there were no animals. I could even go to places where there were no trees but there are the grass shoots and stones and there is the earth. How can I break the coconut because the soul is existing in it also! There is no place where soul is not. I don't think I can break this coconut even if I leave this Planet, because the soul exists even in between the Planets. There is no place where there is no soul. I am sorry Master, I cannot break this coconut. I tried my very best and I found that the coconut cannot be broken following your instructions”. That is the disciple who was accepted by the Master. He told the other disciples: “You do not need me because you are greater than me. Even now I could not see a place where there is no soul, but you could very quickly see where there is no soul. So you are able to see that which I cannot see. So you have greater sight of things. You may choose some other teacher, I am contented with this one who could not break the coconut.”

Thus, we shall have to see like that one disciple, the Omnipresence of the One Supersoul. There is no place where you can escape from Him. Our thoughts are observed by Him, our deeds are observed, our secrets are observed. There can be no privacy or secrecy vis-a-vis the soul. What happens if all our thoughts get printed on the wall simultaneously? You will run away because there are so many private thoughts which cannot be expressed. Our ugliness can be very clearly seen if all our thoughts get imprinted. Is it not? Our thoughts about others, in so far as they get printed without fail, we cannot live in the society. We get ashamed of ourselves because others have known us. We are not ashamed because we have such thoughts, we are only ashamed when others know about it. Is it not hypocrisy? We put up a different face, a dignified face, a very spiritual face, but what is hidden inside is observed, though it is not printed on the wall. It is printed in the sky.

There is a record which is called the Astral Record. Every action, speech and thought is recorded. There are Devas called Lipikas. Their job is to keep on writing your biography. You may be secretive with your co-human beings but you cannot be secretive with the Lipikas. You see a picture on the wall and you make an astral thought, it is recorded! Like this everything is recorded, because the soul observes. It has an army of Devas, a big army of Devas which cannot be equal to any armies we know on earth. Not only the good things but also the evil doings at the thought plane are also recorded. That is why it is said that TRUTH CANNOT BE HIDDEN. We may hide it from our neighbour, we may hide it from our family members, but no one can hide from the Lipikas. They keep on recording and recording. The sky is a big board upon which they can keep on writing. That is why to the spiritual student, the Master says: “I AM OBSERVING YOU”, meaning your thoughts, (thoughts are unspoken speeches), your speech, your actions, your desires. “CONSTANTLY I AM OBSERVING YOU”. What is it a disciple has to do? He should do those things which can be done even while being observed. If we are observed we behave in one way, if we are not observed we behave in another way. It cannot be discipleship. Many speeches and thoughts we would not entertain if we are observed. There is no supposition because we are always observed. There is no situation of being not observed, there is not a second in our life where we are not observed. Take it for granted that we are observed at all times. Remember that we are observed at all times. Keep this awareness at all times with you. Then, naturally, you abstain from doing certain things. That is what happens when we observe that He is observing us. “OBSERVE ME IN ALL DURING YOUR DAILY ACTIVITY, BECAUSE I AM OBSERVING YOU ALL THE TIME”. Whenever any teacher says I AM, he is only referring to the Soul. If Master Koot Hoomi says: I AM, or Master Morya says: I AM, or Lord Maitreya says: I AM, or Master CVV says: I AM, they are only speaking as soul. As soul there is one continuous existence.

The second instruction given by the Master is:

“OBSERVE ME IN ALL THAT YOU DO IN YOUR DAILY LIFE, BECAUSE I AM OBSERVING YOU”.

We naturally fall into a discipline when we carry this awareness. Continuously observe the One in all, including your thoughts and your desires. Slowly we replace the pentagon with I AM. When we are in thought we are with I AM, in speech we are associated with I AM, in action, associated with I AM, while eating, associated with I AM, while copulating, associated with I Am! So we fill our daily life more and more with the observation of the existence of the soul. Then there is more presence of soul to you and less and less presence of concepts, names and forms. See what an expansion is gained in our awareness! When you have practised the observation of the One Soul in all for 12 years, it just settles with you as a habit. You cannot but see the soul. Among other things the soul is also seen! Now we only see other things, we don't see the soul, but this practice enables you to directly see the soul. The soul functioning through the body is seen, the differences in functioning through the bodies is seen. If there is a malfunctioning, when it is not attributed to the soul; it is attributed to the material arrangement in the body. That is why a Master or a Seer never judges others, because the others are as much soul as he is. It is only the envelopes, called the bodies, that make the difference.

THE KEY TO LOVE

The ability to accept comes automatically when we interact at soul level. Every day is an opportunity given to see if we can function as a soul with others. Then all others are equidistant to us. They are as near as distant. Some cannot be more near and some cannot be more distant, when we function as souls. Keeping some people at a distance thinking that they are non-spiritual does-not exist to the Master, because essentially we are the soul. Master can see it and others cannot see it. Others have distinction, others carry judgements, but to the Master all are acceptable, because all is soul. That is the difference in the outlook and approach. Love becomes a natural expression when the soul is experienced. Since 2000 years many people are trying to practice Love, but not even a handful are successful, because to love is a doing, but love is not a doing. It is a happening. To think that love is an act of doing is ignorance. To think that we can love is ignorance. Love has to flow. Are the magnetic currents a happening out of the magnet or is the magnet doing it? If it is doing, it can do for certain iron pieces. It is not so with magnet. It is just flow of the magnetic current through the magnet. The magnet cannot hug certain pieces and throw away certain other pieces. To the magnet all iron pieces are equally the same. All the 12 disciples of Master Jesus are not equal in their awareness, but to the Master they are equal. From Peter to Maria Magdalena all are equally accepted. Peter may think so many things of Maria Magdalena. He was not so happy when the Master accepted Magdalena. It was a problem to him, but it was no problem to the Master! Because Peter is Peter and not the Master. Between disciples there is a lot of acceptance and non-acceptance, because they are not yet magnetized. But to the Master who is magnetized, he cannot help but attracting iron pieces alike. It is an impersonal happening through him. He does not arrest the flow of love to some people. Through his looks he spreads love equally to all, including the Roman General Pilatus who presided over the judgement, including the Pharisees who worked against him, including the disciple who is responsible for handing him over, including the great disciple, who denied him thrice, all are acceptable! Why? Because to all the same love flows. We cannot say that there was less love to some and more love to some others. The flowing of love is always the same. According to their ability the others received it. In some, it stimulated love, in some it stimulated wisdom and in some it stimulated hatred! According to what they are the love stimulates. If you have poison in you and if you are touched with a look of love the poison gets stimulated, because love does not want you to suffer from hidden poison. That is how love functions. It is not an act of loving. It is being impersonal to enable love to flow through. The humanity which believed in doing has been hopelessly trying for the last 2000 years as to how to love. So ignorant is the human being that it carried the cross of love in one hand and the sword in the other hand. Working out love is not the way it is normally understood. Love is an automatic happening when you have identified at the soul level. 2000 years we practised to love. Let us practise for 20 years to experience the soul in all, then you will see how love flows. That which we could not do in 2000 years could be done in 20 years.

At soul level there is belonging. There is much belonging between each other when we contact each other at the soul level. When there is belonging there is the flow of love. To the mother, the children belong to her. That is why she loves her children so much. To a man his newly wed wife is a belonging. Also to a woman a newly wed man is a belonging. Much love is shown, but when the belonging is lost, love is lost. What is it that decides love? Belonging. If there is belonging, there is naturally the flow of love and if there is no belonging naturally love stops flowing. The clue for love is in belonging. How can we develop belonging in all and with all? By observing the soul in all. That is the key to love. Let us identify at the soul level, then there is the belonging developed. When the belonging is developed love flows. If we are not able to love some, understand that we don't have belonging to them. If we are not able to love many, it means that we have not been able to see the soul in many. The more and more you see the soul, the more and more the love flows. The facility of love flowing through depends upon our ability to observe the soul in all. It not only enables the flow of love, it also enables the flow of wisdom. See how easy the process is. You don't have to build libraries of wisdom. The whole libraries of wisdom open to you according to time and place, when there is identity at the soul level. Do you have any evidence with you that Jesus studied many books? You observe the Masters of Wisdom. They did not study as many books as we did. We enter into a loophole when we go into the book. There is a more living book than the book we read. Those living books are beings around us. Let us read the living books in preference to the paper book. Reading the living book is reading the soul and reading is the other name of observing. Observing the soul enables us not only the flow of love but also the flow of wisdom. Many of our goals are fulfilled through this practice given by the Master. The first practice is the invocation in the morning and in the evening. The second practice is observing I AM in all.

REORIENTATION

We have considered in great detail how to observe the One in all and we have also understood in great detail how such observation leads to natural flow of love and wisdom. Now we shall consider the third instruction given by the Master.

The third instruction is: “AT ALL TIMES CONSIDER WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR OTHERS, INSTEAD OF EXPECTING WHAT OTHERS CAN DO FOR YOU”.

I would call this instruction as reorientation.

“What we can do for others” is a natural thought of the soul. “What others should do for us” is not a natural quality. Form the state of being unnatural to the state of being natural we have to get reoriented. We shall have to understand that the Nature functions in terms of what it should do for others. That is why a spiritual student shall have to be an observer of Nature. The more we live with Nature the better we understand. If we build pigeon holes in the name of metropolitan cities and make an artificial living, we never know how the sun rises, because there are such huge structures which do not allow you to see the sunrise. You do not know how a plant grows into a tree. The fine process of the seed unfolding into a tree, with all its details and its ultimate fruition, we do not know because there is no scope for us to grow big trees in our compound. We only grow some petty tiny plants inside the house, which also suffer for want of sunlight and fresh breeze. For our own pleasure we keep plants inside the house, but we do not know how much the plant is suffering inside the house. The plant gets suffocated when it is inside the house, while it is far happy outside, with the sunlight and with the breeze. We have no idea of how the seed becomes a tree and gives a fruit. I think the young ones among us do not even know how to milk a cow. It is not known because we stopped living with such things. If you ask a young child where from we get the milk, the answer is: from the supermarket. Every morning we go and fetch milk from the supermarket. The child understands that the supermarket gives the milk. This is because we have cut off from Nature. In many aspects we have cut off from Nature in the name of civilization. We have become something other than natural. To get naturalized is what is called reorientation. Orientation is the original state of our being. Orient means “where the light rises”; that means, more light, less matter. That is what we gain when we look to the East, more consciousness, less matter. Consciousness shines through transparent matter. That is why the sunlight which we get is the transparent Androgynous Being. Every sunray is an androgynous being which carries more consciousness and minimum matter. The East or the Orient represents shining matter; that means that the consciousness is shining through the transparent matter. Occident means “where the light dies”; that is, more matter and less consciousness. It is a state of awareness.

There can be an oriental in the Occident and there can be an occidental in the orient. The common understanding of Orient and Occident gets inverted in the spiritual understanding. From matter to spirit it is called the travel towards the Orient and from spirit to matter it is called the travel towards Occident. This is another understanding of Orient and Occident. Reorientation means travelling towards spirit, getting released from the matter. If we have decided to walk towards the spirit, we shall have to adopt “what I can do for others”. If you wish to get more and more occidentalized, then we adopt “what I can get from others”. The more and more you think: “what should I get from others?” you are walking towards depths of matter and the consciousness gets imprisoned. It is called a process of individualization, which is also a part of the creational play. There are many people who wake up in the morning with an idea of “what should I get from others?” They are working out their involution into the matter. But if we have decided to walk towards the spirit, you shall have to inverse this process and then think of what I can do for others. That is the difference between the two attitudes. If in the day when we think, speak and act only to help others, we are gradually walking towards the spirit;

otherwise we cannot. The actions decide whether we get released from matter or not. You shall have to act for the benefit of others. It is not enough if we speak good of others or it is not enough if we entertain good thoughts only. The good thoughts and the good speeches should also find their expression as good actions. Where there is good action there is the automatic opening of the door from matter towards spirit. The moment we think of what we should get we walk towards matter. The first category makes you more and more male and the second category makes you more and more female.

MALE - FEMALE

This is another understanding of male and female. The more and more we think of getting things we become more and more female, the more and more we think of doing for others, we become more and more male. There may be male bodies with female attitudes and there may be females with male attitudes. All of us are androgynous in a particular state. We not only give, we receive; we not only receive, we give. But which is predominant? Is the receiving predominant or is the giving predominant? If we grow predominant in giving, we are walking towards East, we are becoming more and more male, we are travelling more and more towards the North Pole. If we keep receiving more and more, we walk more and more into the matter, we become more and more feminine and we walk towards the South Pole. The North Pole is the centre for expansion and the South Pole is the centre for contraction. See how many things are inherent in the concept of what we can do for others.

You can change your polarity when you start giving what you have to others. Giving does not mean giving money. It is an attitude that you have to maintain in your mind, so that it keeps working every now and then and gradually becomes continuous. Then you become a natural doer for others. See how the planet gives so many things to us. We receive everything from the planet and hence the planet is male and we females. The Lord of the planet, Sanat Kumara, is the male as far as the beings on the planet are concerned and we are females. Sanat Kumara is also a female in so far as he receives energies from the higher centres.

Alternatingly one is male and female. We are males outside and females inside and females are females outside but males inside. This gives us a clue. If you wish to get into a female body, there is a way. If you wish to get into a male body there is a way to get it. Normally a male is born as a female in the next life and a female is born as a male in the next life. This is because as females they start giving so many things to the males. A female works for the man, works so much for the family that gradually she becomes a better giver than the males of the house. Hence they gain a male body the next time. Likewise males who only believe in receiving are prone to get female bodies. So the wisdom holds a key to the birth. You can decide whether you would like to have male or a female body. It is the admixture of our quality relating to receiving and giving that decides it. The normal understanding is that females will be born as males and males will be born as females. So the male-female aspect has everything to do with our attitude in life. We cannot become completely male or completely female; it is only a matter of difference in degree. While the planet is male for us it is female to the sun, because it receives energies from the sun. The South Pole is female and the North Pole is male, but the North Pole is also female to the higher pole. For every superior the inferior is female. For all the planets of our solar system, the sun is the male, but the sun is female to a higher system. The sun receives from one hand and gives it with the other hand. That which we call the Solar Centre is male and the sun we know is female. The Solar Centre is also female to the Cosmic Centre, the Cosmic Centre is also female to the Background. That Background Consciousness is male-female and there is no distinction of male-female in the Background. All Creation is male-female; the difference is only in the degree. If we wish to travel towards the soul and realize our original identity as against the personality identity that we carry today, we should start thinking in terms of working for the benefit of others. When preachers keep on preaching: “Please serve, please give”, we don't understand. This is because why should we give is not scientifically explained. Wisdom here offers the science relating to it. You can decide in which way you want to proceed. Do you wish to proceed towards the Orient or towards the Occident? Do you wish to proceed towards the North Pole or the South Pole? Do you wish to be male or female? So the decision is left to us. Nature never impresses its decision on us, it only gives us an understanding and leaves the decision to us. One has to be more and more oriented towards what he can do for others, instead of thinking what; he should get from others.

There is what is called the soul integrated with the personality. There is also the personality integrating with the soul. The soul integrating with the personality is called the travel to the West. Personality integrating with the soul is called the travel to the East. The soul is the East, the personality is the West. That is another understanding. If we are stuck in the personality, we are stuck in the West. If we are settled in the soul we have gained our original identity and you can with great facility work with the personality. In the first case the soul got integrated with the personality. That means that the soul is after the personality. Then one gets conditioned, because the personality is the shadow of the soul, and when you integrate with the shadow you become bound by it. The number given for the soul is 9, the number given for the personality is 8. Personality nature functions in an eightfold fashion through the five senses, the mind, the localised consciousness and the discrimination. They are properties of Nature. When the soul integrates with the personality it becomes personality only; the soul disappears into personality.

9 + 8 = 17. Seventeen is 1 + 7 = 8.

This is one understanding of the soul integrating with the personality. You should never allow the personality to overpower your own being. The personality is the vehicle and the soul is the rider of the vehicle. You are the traveller in the vehicle, you are not the owner of the vehicle. This is another important understanding. The vehicle is not yours, the vehicle is given to you to travel. You have not bought it, you have not manufactured it, it is given to you. That means, it is entrusted to you. When it is entrusted to you, you shall have to be careful with that which is entrusted to you. It is God given and hence divine. It has to be respected. We should know how to work with it. We cannot abuse it, we cannot underuse it. We have to use it for the purpose for which it is given. This is one vehicle which man cannot prepare. It is a preparation of so many countless Devas.

DEVAS - FOURFOLD

There are Devas of numbers which are called Kapila. There are Devas of forms whom we call “The Great Architect of the Universe”. He forms the Creation with the help of the number consciousness. Thus, there is a number consciousness, a form consciousness and together they form the body. The sound consciousness and the colour consciousness co-operate with them. There are the Devas of number, the Devas of form, the Devas of sound, the Devas of colour. These fourfold Devas prepare the Creation. The fourfold key is the keyboard to all wisdom. It is the key to the Wisdom of Creation. It enables us to understand the Creation. It is only these four varieties of Devas that make up the Creation and also make up the body. The entire Pythagorean wisdom is also based on this keyboard of the four keys - the number, the form, the sound and the colour. The number consciousness is called Kapila, the form consciousness is called Visvakarma. He is the one whom we call the Great Architect of the Universe. Sound and colour together are called the Devas of Varnas.

Thus, there is the number, the sound and the colour helping to make a form. This is one way of presenting the wisdom relating to the Creation. This is very frequently used in the Orient. Any wisdom can be unfolded with the fourfold key. Madam H.P. Blavatsky also used this key in the book “The Secret Doctrine”. Whenever she spoke about sound or whenever she spoke about the globe chains, she worked it out with the fourfold key. That is why she put the A, B, C globes and the D globe as the globe of manifestation.

The D globe is the visible one, there are three invisible preceding manifestations and the result is the fourth as the D globe. Thus, the cause of the D globe exists in the C, B and A globes. So it is said in the Scriptures: “Do not look to the causes in the manifest world; the causes are high up. The roots of the tree are subtler and the consequences are grosser”. Before the D globe is manifest, it is there in the astral plane. Before it is manifest astrally, it is there in the mental plane, and before it is manifest in the mental plane, it is there at the plane of the soul. So in three regular steps we come down and in three regular steps we again go back to the original. That is how there is the ascent and the descent explained. This is an oversimplification of the concept (it is not as simple as that). But it gives us enough understanding that all that is visible has three preceding steps. It is true with the sound, it is true with the colour, it is true with the form. It is true with everything that we see on the physical plane and it is all worked out by the Devas. There is so much functioning of the Devas. You feed grass to the cow and you get milk from the cow. Is that not a wonder? Is that not a miracle? People crave for miracles when they get into the spiritual practice. This is the best miracle that you can see, that you can turn grass into milk through the cow. It is alchemy! Is it not alchemy that you turn grass into milk? Who is doing it? Does the cow know the alchemy of turning grass into milk? The Devas in the cow know. If we eat grass can we produce milk? We think we are superior to animals. If we are really superior to animals we should be able to do everything that the animal does! Understand that it is the functioning of the Devas in the animals. We cannot hear the way a dog can hear. That means, the Devas of sound function better in a dog than in a human being. Hence we need a dog, or a cow around us. There are so many animals with divine functions.

THE HUMAN ANIMALS

The animal we carry with us is the human body with all its sophisticated equipment. It has a mind, it has five senses and five organs of action. Without the body you cannot do anything and that is what is given to you as a gift by the Devas. We have to grow more and more responsible towards it. We cannot be irresponsible brutes. If we misuse the body, we have done a great wrong to those who gave it to us with love. How do you feel if you give me something in love and in your presence I break it? That is what we are doing. Every misuse of the human body is a pain for the Devas. We are misusing it in their presence and hence every spiritual student is cautioned that the body is God given. It is a chariot that is God given. You can at best use it and deposit back with the One who has given it to ' us. There is the One who prepares it and there is the One who uses it and there is the vehicle. This is the threefold functioning of the One. It is only the One who has transformed into three. Out of Him the second springs, that is what we call the soul, and out of the soul the third develops. If you carefully study “The Secret Doctrine” (underline the word “carefully”), you find the following words: “The Second springs from the First and develops the Third”. One is springing up, the other is developing. The frictional fire develops the body and in its development of the body it keeps refining the body and ultimately prepares the human body, enabling the second descent of the Fire into the body, which is called the soul. That is why the human body and its preparation has a long, long, long story. This body is so divine and it is the laborious work of the Devas. It cannot be ignored. It cannot be misused. Having prepared such a beautiful house in Creation, the One who prepared it himself decided to get into it. That is the beauty of the human body. There is thus the lower self as the mind and the higher self in the human being as the soul - the indweller. We build a house after long preparation and after having prepared it we live in it. Think of the One who prepared the human body and having prepared the human body, he himself chooses to live in the human form.

The One who has come down to live in the human body is called the man, not the body. That is why man is eternal. That is how we have to understand that we are eternal and the bodies are put to evolution. The first descent is into the matter. Having prepared the matter there is a descent into it. There is a second descent into the body. This second descent in called the Solar Fire and the Unmanifest Fire which can descent into the body as matter or as soul, is called the First Fire or Electric Fire. The fire works the body. That is the fire's interaction with matter. There is friction when the fire interacts with matter. That is why it is called Fire by Friction. Whenever you work with matter there is friction. That is what prepares all the forms in the Creation. Then there is the descent of the Original Fire into the form for a second time. The first descent is for working with matter and for preparing the bodies. The second descent is getting into it as soul. The second descent shines forth. If you see the planets and the sun, they shine with fire. If you see from the Space our own earth globe, it also shines. That is the work of the Fire by Friction. If you see the sun globe, it shines 7 times more than the planet. So is the case of the soul. What is the sun to the solar system, is the soul to the body. The soul that we are, shines forth 7 times more than the body, but the body should enable that shining to come through, - hence the spiritual practice that we go through.

Thus, the work of the personality is the work of Fire. All the three fires participate in preparing the personality. There is so much work done when you are given the body. Hence you shall have to work with it with responsibility. At the same time by identifying with it, you lose your soul consciousness. If you work as a soul the personality cooperates with you. It is like two friends, friend number one and friend number two. If friend number one (the soul) joins friend number two (the personality), friend number two has a nature to dominate and control friend number one. But if friend number one is joined by friend number two, then friend number two cannot dominate, because friend number two joined friend number one. If I come to you then I have to listen to you. If you come to me, then you have to listen to me. This is how it is. So, who goes to whom is the point. Allow the personality to integrate with the soul; don't go and integrate with the personality. Both personality and soul come from the Fire only, and it is all the work of the Devas.

By practising that which we need to do for others, we are getting more and more soul conscious. We are souls but we have lost the consciousness that we are souls. So, we have to get back to that consciousness and hence we have to work in a fashion where we jointly think of what we can do for others. If you carefully analyze every action, every transaction has two parts in it. One part contains what we have to do and the other part contains what we have to get. When we do certain things we do get certain things. There is the duty part and the result part. Working that which is our duty without orienting towards the results is the quality of a disciple. We keep working and there are results for the work that keep coming. The result for the work is the second part of the work. Our duty to work is the first part of the work. Thus we have to do the first part. Our orientation is always towards the first part; the second part follows. We don't have to look for results; results follow you if you are concerned about what you have to do. If we do our duty well, we are never left unremunerated. More often we are concerned about remuneration than work, more preoccupied with the results than with the work. Then, we do not do our work well and hence we also don't get good results. In a transaction we have to do the part which is concerning with our doing and forget the rest. Look at the mother and the child. The mother does so many things for the child when the child is an infant. What is the expectation of the mother? She gives so much time, she gives so much energy, she spends the money that is earned by her or her husband for the child. After the child grows, the child cooly forgets the parents; that is a common experience. But if a mother, when she is taking care of the infant, thinks: “Should I do something for this child?, Will this child do anything in return to me later?” Will any mother think like that? What the child will do in the future for her is never thought by the mother. She does not think about the profit or loss arising out of her functioning with the child. Like the mother that works for the child, a knowledgeable man or a Master works for humanity. No expectations when he does the work. He works because he has to work and he does not look back.

If you look at the life of any Master, he does not look back. Looking for results is on account of lack of understanding relating the work. The more and more we look for results the more and more we get conditioned by our actions. Suppose there is a healer. When the healer heals for money and tries to heal a man who gives much money, mentally he grows in tension thinking that he has to heal a man who gives much money. When a healer heals a rich man for money, or a powerful man for influence, more often the healing does not function. This is because there is more tension than healing in him. If he heals, regardless of what he gets, regardless if one is rich or powerful or poor, then the healing flows better. If we have the result in mind we don't do the work completely, because the mind is always engaged with the result and not with the immediate work. Why a child is happy when he reads a comic book, but he is not so happy when he reads a school book? Because we want the child to produce results by reading the schoolbook. There is what is called examination. The child is told that he should get good marks. So we brain-wash the child about getting good marks. So, whenever the child opens the schoolbook the marks preoccupy the child's mind more than the subject of the book.

Orienting people towards result is on account of ignorance. Orienting people towards what we have to do is the right approach to doing. You have to do your duty and in so far as it is well done you will get your results. Result oriented action leads you to ignorance. Action for the duty leads you to knowledge. When Jesus functioned, he did not function to save the world. But what he did helped to save the world quite significantly. The Initiates don't come with plans to save the world, they only do their work, and get back after having done their job. They don't stay back to see if it is giving good results because they are not concerned about the fruits. A gardener grows the garden for the pleasure of growing the garden; he is not growing the garden with a view to eat all the fruits of the garden. In a garden if we plant a hundred mango trees, a good gardener believes that the fruits will be for someone to be enjoyed in the future.

There was an initiate who initiated the emperor Akbar of the Moghul kingdom. One day the emperor was moving on his horse in the countryside and he found an old man planting a sapling of a mango tree. The man was very old, and the emperor asked the old man: “My dear friend, you are so old and you are planting a seed of a mango tree now. When will this seed become a tree, when will it give fruit and when will you eat it? Do you think you will live that long till this tree will give fruits?” The old man smiled at the emperor and said: “I am not planting this tree to eat its fruits. If our forefathers also had thought as you are thinking, we would not have had any fruits to eat. They have planted many fruit gardens for us to eat. We have eaten so many fruits in our life which is due to their work. Don't we have a duty to do the same to those who come after us? Should we enjoy every action for ourselves? What would have happened if our elders had thought in the same way as you think? We are receiving on account of the work done by the ancestors. You have to do something for the benefit of the successors. What kind of an emperor are you that you don't have this minimum understanding? What for are you a king? I am very disappointed with you.”

This is the ancient most teaching relating to action - that action has two parts. You have to grow aware more and more towards the part which requires your doing and leave the results behind you; they will follow you. The results are like the shadows; they follow you in so far as you keep walking. But if you after the results, it is like running after the shadow; you will never catch up to your own shadow. Instead if you turn towards the East and run, the shadow follows you. Is it not foolish to follow that which follows you? The personality follows the soul, hence you don't have to run after the personality. All personality requirements of life are effortlessly fulfilled when we are oriented towards our duties. A person who is completely oriented towards duty and responsibility only, the Devas take care of what he needs. He needs not preoccupy himself about his personal requirements. For many people the fulfilment of the personality requirements itself is not complete and the life is over. Because there are always personality requirements and you keep on working for them as a slave for the entire life. It is an unending process. As you fulfil one personality requirement another springs up. As you keep working for it yet another springs up - it can never end. That is not the process given if we wish to experience life.

There is what is called what we have to do as different from what we want to do. What do I do does not mean what I want to do. What I want to do is totally different from what I have to do. What I have to do is to give the right food at the right time and the right quantity to the body. This is “have to do”. What we want to do is what we are doing with food now. So is the case with sex. There is a “have to do” and a “want to do”. The wanting to do shall have to be replaced with the “have to do” - as much as is required to be done, no more and no less. If you do less it has consequences, if you do more it has consequences. If you eat more food it has consequences. If you fast it has consequences. If you give as much food as it is required for the body you have done the act without consequences. The same is the case with sex, with money, with the family, or with the society. In everything there is a way to act without consequences. If you overdo or underdo there are consequences, but if you do as much as is required there are no consequences. That means that you are engaged in actions but you are not bound by them. This is what is called gaining “skill in action”. Once you are skilful in action you are a yogi of action - that means that you keep acting and you don't create consequences. That means, you don't build up Karma that binds you. There is no more creation of Karma, there is only the past Karma remaining; that is, you do not increase your debt. You have now known how to remain without debt. That does not mean that your previous debt disappears, but you are skilful enough to clear your old debts also. The skill in action is what we gain when we completely orient towards what we need to do. Hence, one single sentence is given by the Master, “as you get up in the morning, please think: what is it that I should do for today?” If you go about in this fashion, you become a doer for others. You can do more and more for others and you will never become a seeker from others. The Master says: “I shall see that you stand in a position where you never have to stretch your hand to ask”. You will never have to stretch your hand like a beggar if you follow this practice, but you will stretch your hand to help others. A disciple is one whose hand is always stretched to help others but not to seek from others. That is the step we gain when we work with the third instruction. These three are important instructions the invocation, observing the One in all, and action oriented towards helping others. These are the three fundamentals given for oneself to gain more and more soul consciousness. If one observes the three principles for a period of 12 years, the glimpses of light, the taste of light is experienced and the taste enables us to practise further and further.

The fourth instruction given by the Master is: “MAINTAIN A DIARY”.

Every spiritual student is required to maintain a diary, to make note if he has been following the instructions given by the Master, and if not, to resolve for the next day to do better. The second purpose for keeping the diary is that sometimes in our mind we get certain inspiring thoughts relating to what we should do. We should immediately make note in the diary, otherwise we forget. We get these thoughts either when we are alone or when we are travelling or when we are in meditation. You have to make note of the flashy thoughts that you get and see how you can translate them into action. Your attentiveness to bring them into action decides further transmission of such thoughts to you. If you neglect the good thoughts that come to you and you do not transform them into action, there is no possibility of receiving further thoughts. But if you are attentive enough, respectful enough, then you will be given more and more good thoughts. Depending upon you demonstration of those thoughts in life, slowly there will be revelations, coming from within, relating to wisdom. This is how wisdom starts springing from within.

We all carry the Vedas in us. We only have to unfold them from within. There are three Vedas that function with us and we are the fourth one. The first one is “The Song of Life”, called in Sanskrit Sama Veda, the second one is “The Sound of Breath”, called in Sanskrit Rig Veda, the third one is “The Plan of Action”, called in Sanskrit Yajur Veda.

SAMA VEDA. There is the life song that is happening within us as our pulsation. The pulsation, the respiration and the circulation of blood are rhythmic like a song. Therefore it is called “The Song of Life”. The Sama Veda is being conducted in us. It is the basis for all our living. If Sama Veda is not, we do not live, because it is conducting the pulsation in us and it is the centre of life. Hence it is called the “Song of Life”.

RIG VEDA. There is the sound of breath. Respiration is the basis for all our sounds. The exhalation is the basis of utter forth sounds and inhalation is the basis for exhalation. Inhalation enables exhalation and exhalation makes possible to utter forth sounds. All our utterances are called Rig Veda. There is a science of utterance of thought, of speech and of action.

YAJUR VEDA. There is the plan of action. The action that we carry out on the basis of our living and on the basis of our thinking. Life as a basis and thought as a basis we keep acting. The action shall be in tune with the other two; that is what is called Yajur Veda. Yaja means “sacrifice” (offering) and also a “ritual of sacrifice” in Sanskrit. All our actions have to be a sacrifice (an offering) for the benefit of others. That is how Nature is functioning; that is how the minerals, the plants and the Devas are functioning. The whole Creation is a ritual of sacrifice - one working for the other, one sacrificing for the other. That is the key to Creation. All our actions need to fall in line with the creational action. The plan relating to action is there with Nature. We shall have to tune up to that plan and work. That plan is nothing but always thinking in terms of others welfare. In these three ways the Veda exists in us and we are the fourth one. We have to apply the three Vedas upon us. When we function according to the instructions, the Vedas reveal themselves from within, that means, how to act, when to act, when not to act, how much to act, when to commence, when to conclude - the understanding comes from within. This is the unfoldment of the Veda in you. It is not only the book that we find outside. There is a living book inside, for which (according to Madam Blavatsky) there is no copy. Each human being is a living book which cannot be drenched by water, blown by air, burnt by fire or destroyed by matter. That is nothing but we as the soul, which cannot be affected by the elements. From us there is the springing up of the “wisdom of action” (Yajur Veda). From us there is also the unfoldment of “the wisdom relating to sound” (Rig Veda). From us there is the unfoldment of the “wisdom relating to the unfoldment of the whole Creation” (Sama Veda). When an unfoldment comes to us from within as a revelation, we have to put it immediately in the diary that we maintain. You record that which you receive as a thought and practice what you receive. It is a good indication for the Higher Ones to give you more and more good thoughts. Hence you have to maintain a diary. The first three instructions are a must; this fourth one is according to your inclination. If you wish to be guided by the Master from a distance, you should be ready with the diary. Otherwise, even when the master contacts you and informs you, you will only forget about it. Many times the Master visits us and informs us as our own impressions, as a thought of goodwill, we neglect it. To those who are negligent, wisdom cannot be given. These who are not negligent only are eligible for enlightenment and wisdom. Those who forget that which is taught are taught again, but in another cycle!

The fifth instruction is: “BEFORE YOU GO INTO SLEEP, OFFER YOURSELF TO THE MASTER”.

Before you go into sleep, light a candle and an incense before the picture of the Master and offer yourself to the Master to be used in serving humanity. This is a daily application to the Master. It is a petition we make to the Master, it is a request, it is a prayer to the Master, requesting him to recruit us into His Plan of Work. This fiery aspiration should remain with us, that every night we make a prayer to the Master to include us in His Work. His Work is serving humanity. We request the Master to prepare us to serve humanity and also use us in serving humanity. This is how we conclude the day. When we do this, slowly the Master gives us opportunities to serve in life. He observes us when we are serving. If we are serving without glamour, if we are serving without negligence, if we .are serving without pride, without expectations, then more and more opportunities are given. Two gifts are given: we are prepared and we are also given opportunities to serve when we make an offer of ourselves to serve as we go into sleep. There is a prayer which runs like this:

“Master, please let us receive the influx of Thy Plenty of Prana into our system, so that we may transcend disease decay and death, realize the Highest Truth, the Pure Love and the Bliss of Existence and serve humanity according to Thy Plan.”

MASTER CVV NAMASKARAMS

This is the prayer Master CVV has given. It is an important prayer. When this prayer is done as we go to sleep, we are prepared well even during our sleep hours. Slowly we are also recruited into a group of healers that are functioning on the planet, and we gradually become disciples who serve humanity through healing. But the process has to be worked out in a patient way. It is not that we do it tonight and tomorrow we have become healers. The Master says that 12 years is the minimum period. The continuous practice of these five principles for 12 years will turn a man into a Master. That is the promise of the Master to all those who wish to seek Truth. These are the five instructions of the Master to establish ourselves in synthesis and experience the One in all at all times. While experiencing Him we keep working and all work turns out to be service.

When we have gained much ease while working with these five instructions, the secret of death is also revealed!

8. The Secret of Death

There is no such thing as death. It is only our departure from the body to get into another body, like leaving the old vehicle to take a new vehicle. We continue to exist as solar principles, the other name for the solar principle is “the soul”. We keep taking bodies. We will be able to recollect the series of incarnations. The continuity of identity is maintained. We will be able to withdraw and enter into the bodies, realizing that we live eternally. Before that, on account of our limitation, we are compelled to get into the bodies. According to the nature of conditioning we suffer, we get into the bodies. The type of body we get depends on the type of vibration we carry. If we have a body full of non-harmonious things, we have to understand that we have to work them out and see that we overcome them. According to what we are, we get the body. The body gives the indication as to how we have to function. But when once the practice is complete and the realization about death comes, there is not only continuity of identity, but also options to be born. There is an option given to be born! Master CVV in his life demonstrated many times that there is no such thing as death. He has himself demonstrated 18 times. Every time he was declared dead, he used to come back and say: “I told you that I don't die”. 18 demonstrations of a kind of resurrection! Once, when one of his children died very young, his wife could not bear it. She begged the Master saying: “Please, bring him back to life, because I am unable to bear his departure”. The Master demonstrated it three times and brought the child into the body. The child is also a soul of great awareness. The fourth time when the child was leaving the body, he told the Master. “I came with a purpose and the purpose is over. You are bringing me back into the body only to satisfy the mother. Please do not bring me back next time. Give the understanding to the mother that I don't die”. Like this the child informed the Master and left again. This is an event in the life of the Master.

The Master gave prolonged lifetime to some of the disciples according to the purpose. He even gave an advertisement in the newspaper “The Hindu”, which runs like this: “Those who do not want to die, please contact ME”. That was the brave approach of the Master to people. The major teaching of the Master is about death, He says:

“Don't be foolish to think that you die; you will never die, you will keep changing bodies. I have come to give you a greater facility, that you shall retain the etheric body, and thereby continue to carry the consciousness relating to your identity”.

THE MOVEMENT

This is the work of the New Age, which found its expression through the Master of the Blue Mountains (Nilgiris of South India). This is a movement, that is, a wave after the wave of Theosophy brought out by Madam Blavatsky. Madam Blavatsky prepared the platform and then came the Aquarian Energy. There was lot of expectation in the beginning of the century about the advent of a World Teacher. Some persons were also identified as the possible World Teacher. But it was not to be because we can never anticipate the ways of the Lord. We only know when He intends us to know. More often a Messiah does not descend where there is expectation. In the groups and in the places where there are too many expectations, there is no scope to work. Because expectation is a faculty of living in the future. People who live in the future and do not live in the present are not fit to make an understanding when a divine descent happens. Those who live in the presence and mind their responsibilities, those who ceaselessly work for humanity and who remain silent, are the ones who can realize when it is happening. The descent happened according to expectation, but at a different place, in a silent way.

THE CO-OPERATION OF MADAM BLAVATSKY

There is a legend about the further work of Madam Blavatsky. It is said that Madam Blavatsky played an important role in the sacred work of Master CVV. Madam Blavatsky's etheric body was utilised in the work of Master CVV through his second wife. Many of you may have read in the book The Secret Doctrine how the etheric body of Gautama the Buddha was used for Sankaracharya. In the same manner the etheric body of Madam Blavatsky was used through the second wife of Master CVV. The first disciple of Master CVV is his second wife. Together they have conducted many experiments in the Cosmos. Master received much information by sending the etheric body of HPB, posited in his wife into the planetary spheres. That was the co-operation Madam Blavatsky extends to Master CVV in his work. The Master used to send his second wife into the planetary sphere of Saturn and collect the information about the present functioning of planet Saturn. He transmitted certain energies relating to the New Age even to planet Saturn. In his diary we find statements like: “The planet Saturn of our solar system is not functioning well; so, I have also given some stimulation to planet Saturn along with planet Earth”. He also started to work with planet Venus with the co-operation of the Madam. He gave some regulations relating to Venus and relating to Saturn. Frequently he used the etheric body of Madam Blavatsky posited in his second wife for such a grand work. She worked with him during his life to help manifesting the Aquarian Energies on the planet. This is what is called the legendary reincarnation of Madam Blavatsky to continue to Theosophical Movement.

It is no wonder that this energy finds expression into all the groups that are working with the energy of the Tibetan Master.

MASTER D.K.

The Tibetan Master has been the Teacher and the guide to HPB. It is believed that the seeds relating to the monumental work The Secret Doctrine were mostly supplied by Master D.K., the Tibetan, while occasionally they were supplemented by Master K.H. The Tibetan Master chiefly steered the Theosophical Movement since a hundred years. With HPB he worked to break open the orthodoxy and the superstition of the science and the religion. Later through Alice A. Bailey, he transmitted the ancient wisdom to develop groups and to train them for reception of the Aquarian Energy. Today in the West, on account of his sustained work through the disciples, as many as 3000 groups are functioning for variety of noble purposes. Master D.K. elaborated the essential seeds coming from Master CVV, through his teachings to Alice A. Bailey. It is no wonder the Aquarian Energy, steered into our system by Master CVV (an advanced Initiate from the Ashram of Master Jupiter), is picked up and distributed into the spiritual groups that function with the inspiration of Master D.K. and the Hierarchy.
