Humanity is advancing at a rapid pace, both in industrialised nations and in emerging economies. Propelled ceaselessly by the quality of Rajas (Sanskrit, dynamism), human thought moves at great speed. In accordance with the Plan, seeds from higher circles are introduced into this thought-world to allow for an evolutionary leap forward. When the plane of light is active, the plane of darkness also tends to be active. The more seed thoughts of the Divine Plan are introduced, the more seed thoughts also emerge from the diabolic. Just as humanity progresses, many attempts are also made to arrest this progress and even cause regression.

Positive thoughts occur from the supramental plane, while the negative develop on the soil of human weaknesses and are mostly of an emotional nature. The human thought-field needs to be guarded against negative seed thoughts by nurturing positive seed thoughts. It is our task to align ourselves with the Divine Plan through prayer and meditation, to receive the evolutionary seed thoughts and to translate them into action. We are to take particular care to ensure that our emotional, vital and physical bodies are not weakened by a negative orientation. Any weakness on the emotional or vital planes opens the gates for negative energies to enter in and hinder or even destroy the work of goodwill: “May the Plan of Love and Light work out through humanity and seal the door to evil.” This is a powerful seed thought pronounced by the Masters.

We can raise our consciousness and achieve stability by connecting with the Self, the soul, and thus remain stable. Our inner Self is the most stable of all. We can also attain stability by maintaining connection with people who are inwardly stable. It also gives us stability to contemplate upon a blue sky or a mountain peak.

As long as we hold thoughts of goodwill, this ensures that through our words and deeds, goodwill is put into practice. It should be our will to live and work in goodwill. As Master DK puts it, it is about the Will to do good and anchoring ourselves in it. When our entire attention is devoted to the work of goodwill, the people and resources we need will come to us, as long as we maintain the thought of goodwill. Goodwill provides the Plan and also the people through whom it works. We should not feel that people come because of us. They come because of the work of goodwill. Through the seed thoughts of goodwill, the Plan will slowly manifest. Initiates know this and teach not to look for money, but for goodwill.

A seed thought is like a seed that we place in the earth. Through the cooperation of the earth and its moisture, the sun’s rays, the air, and so on, the tiny seed begins to grow. If we do not sow a seed, nothing happens. A thought of goodwill, too, requires to be anchored, and we are to allow it time to grow. We need patience. If we do not give it time, nothing will come of it. It is as if we were to sow a seed today and dig it up again tomorrow to plant it elsewhere.

It is important to have a goal in life and to direct all our energies towards it. Once we have decided on an ideal or a goal, it is important to keep this as a seed thought in our minds for many years. This applies to worldly matters as well as to spiritual practice.

If we harbour good motives at all times, this purifies the mental layers of our body and effortlessly brings about purity in speech and action. It is the only way to purify our thinking. Such seed thoughts open the heart to a better life. If we begin an action with good motives, but it turns out to be bad, we need not feel guilty. Guilt is linked to the motive. The motive decides the consequences. If our motive is pure, it produces no consequences. When we act with good motives, our mental body grows ever closer to illumination.

Master CVV says: “If you invoke, you receive My presence and you see what is happening inside.” The more we are able to observe inside, we might receive good and intuitional ideas. If we are constantly having intuitional thoughts, there is no time left to work towards their realisation. It is important to receive the seed thought; afterwards, we might acquire the know-how and do our work. It is of no use to know more and more if we are not prepared to apply it.

The Masters perceive the Plan in silence and transmit it to people who can listen within and put the Plan into practice. A knower can see the tree in a seed. If we are able to see the subtle levels, we do not need to labour to see the denser levels. That is why, in advanced teachings, only seed thoughts are given and no detailed descriptions. In esoteric circles, teaching takes place more through impression than through expression, as this is simpler. Poetically speaking, it is said that the Highest One, from whom the sound emanates, sits in silence under a tree and speaks in silence to his disciples The silent speech is conducted by lifting the right hand and touching the thumb together with the index finger.

Our origin is a state of ‘No Thought’. From the plane of ‘No Thought’, a single idea comes to us. The idea is communicated through silence. Before the idea arises, we are there as the base. When we are in awareness, it is virtually impossible to be without thoughts. When we are aware, there is thought. Therefore, we are instructed to practice meditation through which we can get glimpses of awareness. ‘I AM everyone’ is the seed thought for meditation.

The ancient scriptures of the East state that there are four stages of Vak, the divine Word – Para, Pasyanti, Madhyama and Vaikhari. Para is the birthplace of the Word, the state of pure existence. In the Pasyanti state, the Word appears as a seed thought or idea. In the Madhyama state, it takes form into a language sentence. In the Vaikhari state, it is uttered forth. These four states of Vak are the four states of Creation as well. The fourfold cosmos, in its objective form, is Vaikhari Vak. The Light of the Logos is the Madhyama state. The Logos itself is in the Pasyanti state, yet its origin is in the Para state. Thus, the world and the Cosmos are fourfold in nature.

The idea or plan emerges in silence from the background. This small seed thought expands into a great thought. It is said that, starting from the state of ‘No Thought’ and moving towards a seed thought, there is a tenfold expansion of ourselves. The seed thought or idea develops into a thought which is ten times more extensive than the idea. Then the thought gathers language, which brings a further tenfold expansion. Finally, we speak just to communicate one thing.

Communication through language is communication on the fourth level. Today, we need so many words to express a concept.

What we call telepathy is communication on the third level. The transmission of ideas takes place on the second level. Between the ashrams of the Masters and in the Higher Systems, communication is conducted in silence. Thus, among the disciples, no spoken words are required for communication. ‘The less we speak, the better,’ is the understanding of the inner circles.

At Aries Full Moon, a Seed Sound is received by Sanat Kumara, the Lord of the Planet, which has been intoned in higher circles. This sound is the annual plan for the planet Earth. The entire plan for the planet for one year is conveyed in a single seed sound. Sanat Kumara and his associates, the Dhyani Buddhas, listen to the seed sound. They meditate on this seed sound for a month. At the Full Moon in Taurus, through Gautama Buddha, they convey the seed thought for the year in detail to the Masters of the Hierarchy and their disciples gathered in the Vaisakh Valley. In order to internalise that sound and gain an understanding of the annual Plan for the planet, the Hierarchy meets with their disciples annually in the Vaisakh Valley. This event is known as Wesak or the Vaisakh Festival.

At the Gemini full moon, the Hierarchy transmits the annual Plan for the planet to humanity. The disciples, who are aligned to the Masters, receive the seed thought. This thought is worked out on the planet over the remaining nine months of the year, without speaking much about the Hierarchy. Thus, the Gemini full moon is regarded as the full moon of humanity.

Where real work is done, there is less talk. That is why a Master said to a disciple who came to him wanting to know more about things: ‘Do what you know about US!’ That is all. The Masters do not encourage unnecessary utterances. Master D.K. speaks of solitude: “Above all, solitude! In solitude you can meet your soul! In solitude you can look within and retrospect. In solitude your Master can meet you. In solitude your energies find stability.” He recommends to start with spending half an hour to an hour a day and one whole day a week alone, in order to encounter ourselves and reorganise ourselves.
