Wisdom for practice

Wisdom is for practice, not for continuous speaking. If we keep on speaking about the Masters, the Rays, and the Hierarchies, we are only missing our duties for the present.

Wisdom is applied knowledge

Knowledge, when applied becomes wisdom. We gain a lot of knowledge, but it has to be applied in daily life, then it transforms itself into wisdom. Through wisdom we will experience the existence.

Wisdom spreads itself

We need not be anxious to spread the wisdom without working it with ourselves. It is a wrong understanding if one thinks that he can spread wisdom. Wisdom knows how to spread itself. It only needs channels.

The Speech

Development of Speech

The Speech

Humanity is the fourth kingdom of nature; we are in the middle of seven kingdoms of nature. Below us are the mineral, plant and animal; above us are the Devas, the solar Devas and the cosmic Devas. Only the human kingdom has gained the gift of speech, and the throat centre is the fourth centre. The speech could only develop after the mind principle was awakened and after the mental forces were cultivated.

According to the Wisdom Teachings, the mind developed in the second half of the third root race and the first half of the fourth root race. There the human speech was formed. Prior to that, the speech consisted only of vowels and some sounds. The sounds conveyed messages from the intuitive plane, as is the case with birds and other animals. At first the humans communicated with something that could now be called as transmission of thought. In the various theologies there are stories where holy persons spoke with birds and also with higher developed animals, e.g. with swans, elephants, or cows. Pythagoras spoke with a swan and also with an eagle. Understanding the language of these animals is like understanding language in the third and fourth root races.

We were given our minds by a group of Devas, intelligences of nature, who are also called the Sons of Mind or the Sons of Will and Yoga. These Devas came to teach us how to use the will to make experiences in the outer world and in the subtle world. They gave us the knowledge of sound, colour and symbols, and they also taught us the path of Yoga. The early humans had the language given to them by the Devas. This language is the same for all. The part of mankind which turned to the divine path used the key of sound and light.

As man became self-conscious and developed his intelligence, a majority of mankind increasingly turned to the outer world. In the course of time cycles, they descended deeper and deeper into matter. The passions increased and the newly acquired physical forces were abused. The divine powers, which mainly comprised the power of subtle language and the use of mantric sounds, disappeared. The original divine language with the natural telepathy was lost, and humanity developed its own languages. People of one language were no longer able to communicate with the people of another language. This is the inner story of the Tower of Babel. Thus, man became purely mortal who was not aware of his potential and his origin.

The primitive humanity of the third root race had a language consisting of individual syllables. The consonants were further developed in the fourth root race. Consonants create the connection between vowels. Thus, the tonal flow arose, which developed into languages that convey meaning. The tongue was not yet sufficiently fine to allow the speech to flow and give it a poetical form. At the beginning of the fifth root race the languages experienced the appropriate expression we now know.

The original language of the Devas is now the mysterious language of the initiates. From it developed the Sanskrit, which is called Deva Basha, language of the angels, and then the other languages of the fifth root race. In Sanskrit every name has its quality, and its wisdom is contained in the name itself. The old languages had a meaning for each word which indicated how this quality can be manifested.

Fourfold Speech

When we observe the flow of speech, we discover that the sound pattern works through four organs. We use the tongue, the upper and lower palate and the throat. The speech is also fourfold, and the fourfold speech emerges through these four organs. First, we have a state without thought; this is the state of existence. Without existence we cannot receive thoughts. Receiving a thought is the second step; it happens on the basis of our conscious existence. In the third step, we clothe the thought with a language. And in the fourth step, we speak it out. The speech emerges through four steps. It is the fourfold existence of the word or the sound. Before the word came as thought, it was only with us. Later we gave it a dress, the dress of speech. Then we put it into the outer world. The first step is therefore, “The Word was with God, and the Word was God.” The seed becomes a thought, the thought takes to language, and the language is spoken out. When we speak, an uninterrupted creation takes place. This can be recognized when we practice listening.

When someone speaks and we listen carefully, we can grasp the core of their statement. Since we understand the core of the thought, we can omit the covering of the many words. When we then speak, we can get straight to the point. This listening, even when we are speaking, is the essential step in the direction of telepathic understanding. One of the prophecies about the Aquarian Age is that as humanity progresses, it grows ever more into the realm of Devas. That is, when it takes to higher initiations, the language will cease. In the higher realms there is no speaking, only telepathic communication - communication through the look or through a gesture. Therefore, advanced persons highly appreciate the silence.

Language and Sound

Every language has a power behind it, especially the classical languages. Speech contains in itself life as sound. The sound expresses life; Life expresses itself as sound. Therefore, speech can energise or devitalise. The more we cultivate constructive thoughts, speech, and actions, the more we connect with the corresponding strength, and non-desirable aspects slowly disappear. Manipulative, critical or judgmental speech leads to a reduction of the life force and has a negative effect on our health. The same applies to the thoughts. We should not contaminate the space, the Akasha, by meaningless speech, nor by critical and judging speech. We should not manipulate or hurt others by words. An injury by words can go deeper than physical injuries.

Vedic recitations, chanting of mantras and uttering OM help cleanse the thought plane. This allows receiving thoughts of goodwill transmitted from higher planes. Thus, right thinking, right speech, and right action vitalise the etheric body and enable the soul to ascend. When we work with sacred sounds, the non-sacred utterances fall away.

As a thought is clothed by speech, the sound is clothed by syllables. The corresponding sound should be expressed by the correct syllable. Inadequate expression leads to distorted results. Therefore, there are six rules for the correct expression:

Speak the syllable as it is intended. Do not extend it if it is not required. Do not shorten it beyond what is necessary. Do not gulp anything, meaning do not skip pronouncing certain sounds in a word. Do not talk hastily, meaning, do not waver while you speak and do not speak out of fear or with an impure mind. Speak every sound with intent. Then the corresponding transformations take place in the body.

The potential of sound is the basis of creation. Sound can lift us up but it can also destroy us. Seed sounds and mantras, when properly pronounced by a very pure throat, manifest things. Through proper intonation, we can rediscover the glory of speech and the ability to be white magicians. The throat is the centre that rebuilds the lower centres, the centres below the diaphragm. The throat is the centre for all magical work; and therefore, the utterances must be correct.

Transmission of the Presence

Every soul is a being of light, and when it speaks light shines forth. The wise men set their listeners from disorder to order and enable enlightenment. Most of the enlightenment on the planet happens through the teacher-student relationship. The teacher works with the help of the throat. A true teacher is not someone who explains concepts of wisdom but their words convey their soul. This is perceived by the listeners as PRESENCE. Many say, “We have received many answers through his teaching.” This is done through the connection of soul to soul, when through the teaching the soul passes through. The transmission of information is different from the transmission of the soul. When there is a flow from soul to soul, the essence is absorbed and begins to work. That is why the Masters of Wisdom say that the teachings that we receive deeply enter into the soul. Very much later they will unfold from the inside, even if we do not feel their soothing effect immediately. The teacher knows what he sows. One day his seed will sprout from the soul via Buddhi into the mental plane. Thus goes esoteric teaching which differs from other teaching.
