Wisdom for practice

Wisdom is for practice, not for continuous speaking. If we keep on speaking about the Masters, the Rays, and the Hierarchies, we are only missing our duties for the present.

Wisdom is applied knowledge

Knowledge, when applied becomes wisdom. We gain a lot of knowledge, but it has to be applied in daily life, then it transforms itself into wisdom. Through wisdom we will experience the existence.

Wisdom spreads itself

We need not be anxious to spread the wisdom without working it with ourselves. It is a wrong understanding if one thinks that he can spread wisdom. Wisdom knows how to spread itself. It only needs channels.

White Magic

Soul and Personality

White Magic

White magic is the magic of light that transforms people. Light is another name for knowledge. Darkness represents ignorance. White magic is an activity of manifesting the divine, the invisible, in the visible, earthly world. A trained mind is an effective instrument of white magic, capable of bringing Light, Love and Goodwill from the higher spheres and manifesting them in the lower spheres. With the human body, we have been given the best equipment for this work. This equipment consists of the mind, the senses and the physical body.

We are the soul, the higher self. Through the mind, the light of the soul is reflected onto the personality, the lower self. When the light of the soul is reflected onto the personality through the focused mind, it is said that the personality becomes an “enlightened house”. White magic begins in our lives by allowing the soul to work with our personality.

The first step in white magic is to have clarity about our higher and lower selves and to understand well the problems of our personality. This requires the courage to be truthful and to accept that we are full of problems. We see our problems in our surroundings, and we see others as the problem. But the fundamental truth is that there are problems within us, and we do not see them within ourselves. It is important to be aware of the physical, emotional and mental problems of our personality. Through other people, we come face to face with our own personality. White magic therefore refers to solving the problems that lie within our own house. We do not apply this knowledge to manifest externally in order to change the world. The work of white magic consists of changing ourselves, overcoming the problems of the personality with the help of the Divine, and transcending the personality. Those who have changed themselves change the world.

The light of the soul is called Buddhi in Sanskrit, and the light of the personality is Manas, mind. The light of the personality should regularly meet with the light of the soul. However, our wandering thoughts are preoccupied with objectivity and are led astray. To turn our mind inwards, to meet the soul, the path is prayer and meditation. Both are exercises in alignment. In prayer, we connect with the light within us; through meditation, the stable mind connects with the light of the soul. This practice is extremely important for coming into contact with the Higher realms and remaining there steadily and consistently. In doing so, we transform ourselves, and thus white magic takes place. White magic brings forth the light of the soul and eliminates the shortcomings in our personality.

Examining Ourselves

As white magicians, we are expected to be guided by common sense and to understand the ebb and flow of our own nature. Sometimes the personality is full of joy and sometimes it is not. Nature moves in cycles. When we understand which forces are currently at work and what the times intend, we attune ourselves to them.

We sincerely examine our motives and decisions in the light of the soul and ask ourselves: How have I thought, spoken and acted? How do I use my time? Do I identify more with the soul or with the personality? The personality changes constantly, like a chameleon, depending on time, place and situation. Through regular self-examination, we can reorder the personality and realign it with the soul.

As long as we allow ourselves to be guided by the personality, white magic remains out of our reach. When we begin to experiment with white magic in daily life, a magic happens.

The more we learn to master our mind, the more the soul accelerates the pace of development, and meditation becomes more successful and fruitful. Through meditation, we connect the personality with the soul, and the personality opens up to receive. We connect the mind with Buddhi by studying the teachings of the Great Ones and serving in one way or another. If we use the soul’s energy wisely, it will lead us to a fulfilled and fruitful service, and this shows that we are practising wisdom correctly. It does not lead us to a strong external life. Our consciousness begins to unfold into planes that are hidden from humanity. Our potential is far greater than what we know today. We are pure consciousness and a storehouse of spirit. We are capable of bringing spirit into matter and thus performing white magic. Indeed, it is our responsibility to realise the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. There are realms of beauty, light, love and intuition that can be manifested through human endeavour.

Overcoming Obstacles

There are obstacles to the effectiveness of white magic, and the teachings provide guidance on how we can change the conditions. In our homes, we should prepare a room where, as far as possible, we carry out only our prayers, meditations and studies. However busy the atmosphere outside may be, the regularity with which we perform our practices in the same place will infuse that place with energy. In this way, we prepare the right atmosphere so that the Great Ones may visit us, along with the intelligences that help us to carry out the work of white magic.

We must have a proper understanding of food. White magic requires that we eat the right things and avoid fermented foods, preserved foods, and heavy foods such as meat. Then, over the course of 12 years, the tissues of our physical bodies will gradually change. In every aspect, the main activities of our lives should follow a rhythm – at work, at rest, when eating, during meditation and study. Even people working night shifts have a rhythm. Rhythmic work is important for achieving the necessary radiance and magnetism for white magic.

Concerning our inclination towards material things. To the extent that we allow ourselves to be strongly drawn to material things, to that extent our subjective consciousness lies dormant. It is recommended not to accumulate external possessions excessively and to have only those things around us that we need for modest comfort. We should not feel uncomfortable or inconvenienced. We may have books of wisdom, symbols of wisdom, crystals and similar material objects at home. They assist us in our work. We should be mindful of and avoid any accumulation of material possessions, as they drain our energy.

If we become aware of our attitude towards spending money and do not waste resources, money becomes available that we can use for service. If 10 per cent of the money wasted in developed countries were to reach the poorer countries of the world, there would be no more poverty on the planet. Blessed are those who share what they have with others who have nothing. And this sharing should be present in every aspect of life, whether it be wisdom, money or health. We are to share with those who have nothing or not enough. Giving something is a kind gesture. Even if it will not solve the problem of poverty, it demonstrates our desire to share and to transcend the material side of things.

In our daily lives, it is good to strive to see the soul within the forms. It is the original essence. We should fulfil our immediate duty and not be half-hearted in doing so. Things come to us when we fully devote ourselves to the duty at hand. If we live in balance, then life brings us what is due to us. What we sow, we also reap. What we will be tomorrow depends on what we do now. Even the right teacher will come to us and guide us onto the path of immortality when the time is ripe.

The Power of White Magic

The essential quality of white magic is love. A white magician continuously emits vibrations of love and compassion, neutralising other vibrations and transforming them. Let us not allow the negative side of magic to be nourished within us. The Forces of Darkness who wield black magic, do not have love. This means that as soon as we regard something as black, we nourish it, for energy follows thought. To keep our minds free from black magic, we do not speak of black magic. We think of the Hierarchy or say, ‘May Christ be with it’. Christ is an embodiment of love, and we send much love and compassion to those affected.

White magic is far more powerful than black magic. When pride and the personality ego grow, even well-meaning people can turn into black magicians, and this can happen right beyond the third initiation. A mindset fixated on power and money leads to corresponding actions. It is not our categorisation into black and white that matters, but the quality of the work. If we are pure within and chant OM in a place where there is much confusion, this purifies the surroundings. May we seal the door to evil.
