Wisdom for practice

Wisdom is for practice, not for continuous speaking. If we keep on speaking about the Masters, the Rays, and the Hierarchies, we are only missing our duties for the present.

Wisdom is applied knowledge

Knowledge, when applied becomes wisdom. We gain a lot of knowledge, but it has to be applied in daily life, then it transforms itself into wisdom. Through wisdom we will experience the existence.

Wisdom spreads itself

We need not be anxious to spread the wisdom without working it with ourselves. It is a wrong understanding if one thinks that he can spread wisdom. Wisdom knows how to spread itself. It only needs channels.

Narada

The Messenger

Narada and Neptune

The wisdom teachings explain that creation unfolds with cyclical energy and again dissolves into the state of latent existence. Before the present creation there was already a previous cycle of creation. At its dissolution the beings went into Pralaya and were absorbed into the background, the absolute God. When the creation emerged anew, all who consciously entered into the Lord also consciously re-emerged out of him. Those who merged unconsciously come out unconsciously to make further progress in the new creation. This movement is called NARAYANA, the cosmic Lord. Alternately Narayana unfolds and dissolves again into himself. NA is the sound of evolution, leading from manifestation back to the subtle and to the dissolution. RA describes that which goes into the variability; it is the sound of involution. All beings are called NARA, indestructible. Nature guides these Naras in the involution and the evolution.

The eastern scriptures describe a heavenly sage, a cosmic teacher and close friend of Narayana called Narada. The name NARADA means: one who conveys the experience of NARA. DA means “to give” in Sanskrit. Narada is therefore the giver or the initiator. He moves through all the seven worlds; on all planes he conveys the knowledge of the eternal existence and of immortality. On each plane he guides the communication and therefore he is also called the cosmic principle of Mercury. Narada corresponds to the Archangel Michael in Christian theology. He acts as an ambassador who conveys information from the higher planes to the lower ones. Narada has also the surname “strife-bringer” because at lower levels he causes conflict so that crises can be elaborated better and faster. At higher levels he gives synthesis. Narada is one of the beings who constantly move from one plane to another and cannot be located. Wherever these beings are present, they are present as I AM. When we think of Narada, he is there.

Narada and the Kumaras

Together with the four Kumaras, Narada is one of the five firstborns of the creation. They are eternal principles that periodically make their appearance. Allegorically it is said that the four Kumaras were born out of the four faces of the creator. The four faces represent the four aspects of the Divinity: existence, awareness, thought and action. Narada came out of the mind, the Manas of the creator. It is said that he first belonged to the Prajapatis, the beings working for the preservation of creation. But then he asked the creator to allow him to transfer to the Kumaras in order to lead those beings in the creation who feel the impulse of wanting to go back: “I will try to guide them and prepare a hierarchy of teachers. Thus, those who seek the path of devotion, knowledge and detachment, are guided directly to the path of yoga to attain self-realisation and to reach the divine Plan. I will act in accordance with the Kumaras and ensure that there is a bridge in creation for the beings that are ready to receive the impulse from the Lord himself.” So the first impulse for the path of yoga comes from the Lord Himself and it is nurtured by a teacher who ensures that the impulse can grow strong and overcome the limitations of creation. When Narada thus asked the creator, Brahma could not refuse it. So Narada became the highest teacher who leads to the threshold of the Absolute.

The four Kumaras and Narada form the fivefold hierarchy. They are the cosmic teachers who establish the hierarchies of teachers on the different planes in order to help the beings overcome the illusion of matter. They are eternal celibates and are described as eternal children. They remain pure fiery beings who do not participate in the creational activity. In a deeply symbolic representation the Puranas describe that therefore, the creator cursed them:

When at the beginning of this cycle of creation the Kumaras came forth from Brahma, the creator expected them to help him with the work of creation but they refused. He asked why, and they answered, “If we start creating, we are caught up in the chain of cause and effect and get tied to matter”. The creator was surprised to see how they intuitively felt the effects of creation. He understood that Narada had advised them to refuse. He then cursed the Kumaras to stay on the lower planes of matter during the duration of creation. Thus, they give their presence to all beings of creation, so that the beings can embark on the spiritual path as soon as the desire for it awakens. Narada was cursed by Brahma to constantly move from plane to plane without having a particular abode for himself. This allegorical narrative describes the principles of the Buddhic plane and the higher planes. In the Aquarian age they bring us a new stimulation and accelerate the path of ascent.

Symbolically it is said that Narada was born out of the thighs, i.e., in Sagittarius. Sagittarius is a fiery sign, the sign of aspiration. The fire of Kundalini rises from the base centre at the end of the spine, up to the head centre. The cerebrospinal system is called the yogic axis. We can meditate on Narada in this entire system that he may give us the necessary inspiration and the impulse to know. The colour related with him is golden yellow. It is the neutral colour which in the rainbow is equidistant from blue and violet. With the sounds he corresponds to OM, with AUM to the U in the middle. There, the soul is in balance.

Head of the Musical Hierarchy

Narada is represented with a Veena, a string instrument, whose seven strings vibrate. It means, they bring forth the musical compositions of thoughts as words through the air of the human breath. The ability to work with all strings of the musical instrument comes from the ability to function with the language in a constructive manner. When the higher centres express themselves through the throat, harmonious vibrations emerge. Discordant sounds do not come from the human instrument but from the way we play with it.

We cannot appropriately imagine the type of music of Narada. He is regarded as the head of the musical hierarchy, which acts through the waves of space, and as the World Teacher of twelve solar systems. In our system Narada acts through Neptune, the soul of our solar Logos, and at a lower level via Venus, the soul of our planetary Logos. With his Veena he can manifest gatherings of atoms from the atmosphere and disintegrate the atoms again into the ether. On our planet, there are only two Grand Masters who can give the presence of Narada: Maitreya and Dattatreya. The contact with Narada is via the musical vibrations of space that reach us through the crown chakra. By aligning to Lord Maitreya we can receive this musical energy. It is not music of vocal sounds but the music of the expression of the soul. The vocal music can lead the musician to the music of the soul level, provided he uses its vibrations for this purpose.

Lord Krishna created soul music of the highest order with the magical sound of his flute which enraptured humans and animals ecstatically. Even Narada was bewildered by the flute music of Krishna and very much longed to hear it. He once came to Krishna and said: “I thought I was the only one who could play like this, but I cannot compete with you.” Krishna smiled and said, “After me comes another, and after him it is you.” Narada was surprised; he had thought that he was the first. If someone thinks so, he is not. Even Narada fell into this illusion. Krishna said, “It is Hanuman in the Himalayas; he is the best singer. He always sings the sound RAM.” Narada knew Hanuman, but he did not know this dimension of Hanuman because Hanuman never shows his ability or his power. All the time he remains merged with THAT.

Narada went to Hanuman and after exchanging a few pleasantries, he said, “I think you sing very well; people say so.” Hanuman replied, “I do not know, I do not know if I'm a singer. I sing only the name of the Divine,” Narada asked him, “Could you please sing the sound RAM for me?” Hanuman replied, “Yes, I will do it. I was in the sound RAM until you came, and I am happy that you asked, so I can be in it again.”

Narada put his Veena on a stone by his side and sat down to listen. Hanuman began to sing. After a few minutes Narada was absorbed into Samadhi and Hanuman was absorbed even before. There was only the music. After a long time Narada came back to consciousness but Hanuman did not. Narada wanted to leave again and took his Veena, but he could not lift it up: the stone had melted with the music and the Veena was stuck in it. Then he touched Hanuman and said, “I have to go.” Hanuman asked, “Did you like the music?” Narada replied, “I have no words. I thought I knew everything about music and was regarded as the best musician of the universe, but I bow down before you. I want to leave, but please help me, my instrument is stuck in the stone.” Hanuman replied, “I don’t know why. So I do not know how to take it out. You tell me.” Then Narada suggested that Hanuman should sing again. However, he himself did not listen but looked at the stone. When the stone was melting again, he quickly took out his Veena, greeted Hanuman from his heart and left before Hanuman opened his eyes again.
